Saturday, March 22, 2014 - HDH Auction (Tru - Chicago, IL): Lots of mint and dark fruit on the nose. The palate was pretty decent. Good dark fruit, some nice smokey notes, and that great old Californian earthiness. Didn't think this was the most profound wine, but it was quite enjoyable.

4/1/2014 12:09:00 PM - Not surprised to read that a sound example of this release is still holding on. We bought a trunk load of the '73 on release. Our last bottle was finished off in 1993, a very strong showing even then. Joe made his '85 Napa very similarly, something that's also still drinking well these days. Cheers.
