Tuesday, February 25, 2014 - The warm climate shows here with an upfront concord grapiness, blackberry compote, licorice, soap, tanned leather, EtOH, somewhat stewy, very dark. Muscular, raspy tannin adds a bitterness to the sweet cooked fruit with dark cocoa, black pepper, and a mineral sense not that different from some Aglianico. Not short on character, but a little lacking in charm, this was good with a sausage/white bean/kale stew, but is too rustic to enjoy much on its own.
