Tuesday, August 28, 2012 - This is my 2nd bottle of this wine, see my 9/7/11 tasting note as well, initial tasting before decanting for ONE hour - light ruby color, nose of sweet cherries, strawberries and some heat (alcohol), good tannins with clean finish. I am optimistic. After decant, improved finish and more balanced blending of tannins and fruit, I like this wine much better after one more year. Still not a powerful Barolo but I am seeing and learning that there are really 2 types of Barolos these days, 1) "traditional" Barolos with strong tannins that are usually aged 5 years before release and need 2-3 years more aging before drinking and 2) "new world" Barolos that are milder and designed to be consumed earlier. Both are good but my preference is the traditional method.
