95 Points

Friday, June 13, 2014 - From 375, medium-colored bottle. Coravin 6/13/14: Medium golden-orange color; nose has apricot, slight spice, nice citrus; palate is full bodied with intense immediate acidity throughout which gives it great balance, ripe apricot fruit, saffron, slight citrus, great freshness but concentration throughout; finish is medium-long, fresh, citrus, great acidity. Still quite youthful but not infantile, balanced, and among the best acidity of all the sauternes that I’ve tried. Needs time for the nose to open up again, but the palate is seriously impressive. 94-95 with potential for much more if things come together on the nose. Wait ~2 years before the next half to give it time to develop.
Opened 6/23/14: Similar to note above. Distinct secondary saffron on the palate. A lot of complexity and a polar opposite to the simple and cloying 2005 Rabaud Promis tried yesterday.
