Sunday, June 29, 2008 - A tasty sparkling wine in the champagne style - it's quite dry, but not unpleasantly, with crisp acidity and nicely potent carbonation. Eminently drinkable, it goes down quickly and doesn't leave one with the hangover so many cheaper sparkling wines do. Primarily notes of oak and minerals, with hints of flower and very little fruit. I'm not a chardonnay fan, and said grape's existence is very obvious here. I prefer more fruit and flowers and citrus, a little less acid and bit more complexity. I enjoyed this well enough, but I wouldn't get it again, unless perhaps to use in cocktails, where it could be a pleasant backdrop for other flavours.
