Sunday, June 15, 2008 - Still pretty clear with just a hint of yellow-green, the nose is creamy, oaky and has a malolactic fermentation odor. Fresh tart green apples, maybe some pear, carmel on the back end without a whole lot of oak taste (more in the nose at this point). Finish is good 45 seconds to a minute and there is perhaps just a bit of heat on the finish. Still overrated by Harvey Steiman, but a very good wine at this point. I cannot see any future aging improving this wine as the excellent acidity and length may get flabby in time. I would consume within 24 months.
