Saturday, May 2, 2015 - Opaque garnet with lots of purple in the rim. Very pronounced wine that is still developing. On the nose, black fruit, cherry, menthol, Christmas cake, some meatiness in the background. Full bodied with high alcohol and high, dry tannins; medium+ intensity. The palate has a lot going on with black fruit, lots of black pepper, black cherry, cigar box, tea leaf making it come across as a bit curt on the back palate. Finish is long.

This is an excellent wine. Great nose and then the palate brings on the fruit with very nice integration. This wine is drinking well now with a bit of time in the decanter suggesting it still has room to improve with time in the cellar.
