Friday, January 25, 2013 - Italian wine dinner at home: Double decanted 2 hours in advance. I was surprised at how good this was in the context of some of my favourite italians. Very dark, it has a maturing nose with meat, iron, dust and dark cherries. In the mouth it is tannic, firm and fine-grained in a distinguished way, showing very little sweetness yet with cool deep fruit. The aftertaste is refined and long. Incredibly good. Seems like it will keep forever.
