Tuesday, December 20, 2011 - Decanted a couple hours prior. Interesting to know the blend here as it seems to be showing off its merlot component. Nose of blackberry, with licorice and cedar spice. Lush fleshy palate with plum and currants, touch of spice, seemingly low acidity. Fine tannic finish with subtle oak notes, toasty, with darker fruit. Still quite tannic, slightly bitter, and a little coarse. A very nice bdx in what appears to be the style of '04--lush ripe fruit but lacking a little depth or complexity. Still, a very nice bdx that will please the bdx drinker and continue to improve over the next 5-10yrs.
