Saturday, February 2, 2013 - Drank with duck breast, pan roasted baby spuds and beet/mâché salad.
Opened and poured directly from bottle at cellar temp an hour before dinner which was a bit of a mistake as first impression was of a young, tight and somewhat more tannic pinot. An hour later the wine had blossomed and was wonderful showing both length and great breadth. A powerful style with lovely balance and interesting delineation between the red fruits and spice notes. This has a long life ahead of it and as I only have 2 more West Block and 5 other 2008 SV Rochioli will try to wait at least a year for the next. No need to wait though, delicious now.
