95 Points

Saturday, September 15, 2012 - An absolutely wonderful effort, the 2009 Hermannshöhle Spätlese once more provides immens pleasure. The nose is very expressive with tons of minerals, lime zest, vague subtle petroleum tones and rich lychée. The oily viscosity of the palate is very impressive as is the length on the finish. This wine is surely built for the longer haul, yet it provides immense pleasure today with integration, balance and an overwhelmingly intriguing palate being the keywords. I am sure this effort will continue to develop for many years and my advise is to keep a few bottles for another decade - or so.
