Saturday, July 9, 2005 - Tasted at Pinot Days and was a clear winner along with a few others: Tandem Auction, Freeman Akikos and Hirsch. Violet and lavender nose was unbelievable followed by blueberry/blackerry taste that came on strong. dont know about balance, but Loring's wines are all about the here and now. Tasted again on 11/11/05: got cloves and light spices on the nose, not as dramatic as before. everything was more muted and fruit was more rhubarb than black...needs to sit a little while before tannins settle into elegance. I hate to say it, but the wine feels manipulated and heavy handed by the winemaker.
