2004 Château Pontet-Canet

Community Tasting Note

Friday, December 22, 2006 - Not decanted but tasted over 4 evenings. Best on day 1 and 3 when nose seemed to be more open with lush and ripe fruit, tobacco and smoke. Day 2 was completely closed down and day 4 indicated signs of oxidation. I'm too inexperienced with 2-year-old clarets of this quality to give a just rating but it seemed like there was lots of potiential. Great balance between fruit, acidity and tannins. Requires a long time in the cellar, I'm sure. Tasted as a part of the on-line tasting of Pontet-Canet and Lafon-Rochet organised by Adam Flint on the eRobertParker Bulletin Board.
