96 Points

Friday, March 9, 2012 - This is full and absolutely rich, however, not in an absurd way. The finish glides for a minute and the unctuous layers show such evident plateaus. Exotic cassis on the front of a deep nose, also showing blackberry, cherry liqueur, coconut, cedar and chocolate. I also get some plum on the palate and tannins are of pure, soft velvet. The freshness really exhibits how such an endowed wine can also embody elegance; I get no heat. Decanted for three hours and this is almost black. The best Caymus of this decade, with the '07 being a close second (95 pts). Drink 2013 - 2028.
