Monday, November 22, 2010 - From 375ml, cork came out still spongy and in one piece but saturated half way up. After a small taste the bottle was left to slow-ox for thirty minutes while we enjoyed appetizers. Color in the glass was a beautiful, translucent crimson red. Very pretty, yet somewhat musky nose of cigar wrappers, old leather, mushrooms and red fruits. Tannin is completely resolved, giving way to a silky mouthfeel that remains taught with plenty of acidity. The palate is nuanced and harmonious with pencil led, red fruits, mushrooms, coffee grounds and a touch of woody cedar notes on the medium finish. With more air, the wine seemed to turn the volume up on all levels – darkening slightly in the glass, with stunning aromatics and deeper red fruits. Amazing showing out of 375 at age 29. Perhaps at peak, but in no danger of going over the hill, especially in 750 or Mag.
