Sunday, April 19, 2015 - Terry Hoage is one of those producers that I think has two phases - when just bottled, everything except for their single block syrah is pretty much approachable at that point - big Paso fruit that is a fun drink. The cool part is that they really have shown a great ageability that you'd never expect out the gate. As the giant fruit subsides with time, the acid and some spice-based nuances really start to shine, which really elevates the wine a lot. I have sent a lot of people to THV as a <$50 "ready to drink" red, but I think I've missed out on telling them to buy some for now and some for later. This has 4-6 years of good life on it, easy, but is getting there at pop and pour now. My personal preference would've been another year or two, as a couple hours of air has really opened it, and presented a great balance of big fruit and acid.
