Friday, March 28, 2014 - TTTG; 3/27/2014-3/28/2014 (Coventry, CT): Slow oxed 12 hours, splash decanted 2 hours prior, tried over one day. Very pronounced ripe, dense red and black berry. Somewhere underneath that is some herbal and meaty notes. Silky, full-bodied. Medium very fine tannin and medium acid. Long finish with (surprisingly) only a slight alcoholic note. It is a bruiser. It may be a good accompaniment for a burger. It has no sense of place (unless "solid state winery" is a place). I don't like the style, but there is no denying that for over-engineered wine, this is very well engineered, nicely structured, and velvety soft. (group's 9th of 10 by consumption volume, though the group leans heavily old world)
