Monday, February 1, 2016 - Weekly tasting group #202; C9duP 2009 (@ VD): The wine is almost black. The bouquet is quite special with some glue and acetone, but also dark forest fruits, some red fruits, laurel, chocolate and cinnamon. On the palate very concentrated, juicy dark berries, salty licorice and black pepper, but also some glue impressions. Firm acidity and round, slightly sticky tannin. I am in doubt; is this an off bottle, or is this wine so concentrated and still much too young so it still has to find its balance? Need to taste again around 2020 I suppose. No score for today.

2/3/2016 5:54:00 PM - Thank you Derek for your comment. The wine is a bit odd now, but all the good things are there as well. D’Yquem can give the same impressions in its youth, but with some years on it, it all falls into place. I just hope it will be the same with this wine. Between 2020 and 2022+ we will probably find out :-).
    Cheers. Z.
