91 Points

Sunday, May 15, 2011 - 89-91 --> 91 is based on where the wine is going. Rich, dark, and powerful, with a hint of the leathery notes you expect from the Ribera. The wine has nice acidity and the tannins are very fine.

My immediate thought when tasting the wine was that it was going to be much better in 5 years or so, when the fruit fades a bit and the secondary flavors take hold.

The one thing this wine lacks is a substantial finish. It is short-average at best, which should be expected from a Crianza.

Overall, a substantial WTSO bargain.
