Wednesday, June 27, 2012 - Pours a beautiful deep garnet which shines from within. A few signs of age browning the rim. The nose is balanced between primary fruit and tertiary elements, so... secondary average? On the palate it's all there, good med-full body with griping tannin, and acidic twang, fresh primary crunching blackberries with a stalky bite, and tertiary mellowness in tea, leather and tobacco. But bringing it back to basics, this is a well balanced, stupidly moreish, long length refreshing wine. Faded a touch by the second night so get ready to drink up any spares. Very good VFM (high teen-$s on release). Part of the first case of wine I ever bought (on the back of a Huon Hooke review in the Sydney Morning Herald).
