Sunday, April 15, 2012 - Opened one hour but not decanted -- in the event very little deposit except a streak ingrained on inside of bottle -- overheated at some point? Level into neck. Soft cork, but true. Minimal watering at rim, no bricking. Lovely deep colour, sensational nose of blackberries & currants, pepper & tobacco; indeed (like good Burgundy) nose is so good you delay tasting the wine so as not to have to stop enjoying the nose. Lovely on the palate, beautifully rounded and balanced, very long indeed. No residual bite, fine fruit and mellow cedar. Soft tannins, fully integrated. Equally good right down to the last drop, but perhaps just a trace of hollowness in the mid-palate -- this bottle would probably not have improved any further.
