Sunday, April 14, 2013 - Fire brick color with a vermillion rim. Popped and poured, this starts with a gamey combination of sous bois and cured sausage aromas, followed by a stony hint of terra cotta. On the palate this is all wound up with tight, tart acidity at first. After an hour of decanting, the wine starts to take on candied cherry, cocoa and pine scents, with a fruitier palate of raspberry, still underpinned by a dry gravel flavor. Throughout, this maintains excellent structural support, indicative of a least five years of aging potential. Solid, good QPR, with more to come in a few years' time perhaps.
