  • Dark garnet color, bricking is there and it is no question this wine has some age on it; clear and sediment free, cork is wet ⅓ up
On the nose dark fruits, plummy, leather, licorice
Palate shows dark red fruits, leather, pleasant dust, candied black cherry, cola nut, when aerated in the mouth, some noticeable heat but it all is in balance. Acidity is nice and tannins are still there but well integrated. This wine is still alive and a nice surprise to be so enjoyable. A winebid purchase for $20 and well worth it.

  • Drank from magnum. A pleasant surprise. This had been hanging around the cellar for a long time. Thought it might be over the hill, but was not--surprisingly youthful. Great medium color, showing just the slightest bit of age around the edges. Upon opening, the same big fruity nose that I remember from its youth, with rosy floral notes and vanilla. On the palate, nicely balanced fruit. No funk on the nose, a bit of funk on the palate, but that quickly went away. Developed a bit over the next three hours, with the nose becomming more full, round, voluptious. Smooth and balanced vanilla and oak on the nose and palate. A bit of damp forest floor came on. The wine became more tart, with bitter cherries. Better when first opened, but very nice.
