Opened up, no decant for about an hour. This wine was singing- still tons of fruit and well rounded. Tasted like a wine half its age. Still has some time left, no rush to open.

Wine had color and nose of age...actually not sure if it was just aged or if it was that some air may have slipped into the bottle. Cork broke in half when removing and it appeared a bit dry. So its possibe that it did not maintain a tight seal. Nevertheless the bottle was still drinkable but not what I expected. Taste was one of smoke and slight ash and not of fruit like some of the previous tasting notes. Disappointed with this bottle.

Herbie green nose The alcohol is a little hot on the palate for me. Flavors of prune and spice., a little too stewed or over extracted for my taste. Drank with a 2004 Shafer HS I enjoyed a little more

My least favorite wine of the night, but largely because this was the worst vintage year of the wines we had. Too much alcohol comes through and the fruit is disjointed until after mid palate, but then it starts to come together for a finish that is a bit too short. Perhaps also an awkward time in its development, but the '03s are not an easy group to predict.

One of the best bottles that I have had in the past few years. Full-bodied, very well balanced cab. Huge flavors here ... licorice, smoke and dark berry. Great finish. This was my last bottle of the 2003.

Incredible dinner wines with friends (Screagle, Krug, Yquem, Bryant, +++) (Our home): Very nice showing for this. Unique. It was still getting better when the glass was empty. Purple in color. The nose is great with cassis, licorice, slight spice and bits of charred wood. There is a bit of alcohol as well but more like a liqueur than hot. On the palate, this seems a bit sweet (but that my be from coming next to the older Dominus). Lots of cassis. No hint of alcohol. Very clean. A wonderful seamless texture and balance. Drinking with just the slightest bit of age. Medium tannins. Long finish.

Crimson red color, pristine edges no browning or fading noticed. Upon opening, the smell of dark fruit was apparent but the first taste had zero fruit, wood was only coming thru. After 90 min decant, the beauty of this wine started to show. Very balanced wine, nice show of fruit, with a velvety 30 sec finish.
Day 2- left half a glass in the decanter to investigate, alcohol dominance nose, very tasty, finish diminished. Open the next one in 2 years?

Truly awesome. Opened and drank it straight. It hits you like a sledge hammer! Maybe it would benefit to open for an hour or so. This puppy has power, body, a deep color and lingers on your palate. It was great to see it evolve over 2 hours during a CNY hot pot reunion dinner. Strong black fruit yes but liquorice too and spices evolving. At 15.9% it is very well balanced. For some around the table it was too strong and too in your face. But we loved it. Ended the last glass with apiece of 72% dark chocolate. Yummy with this wine. I'll revisit my next bottle in 5 years?

on a night with a dozen or so 2003's this one was one of the best (Shafer Hillside Select the other 'best') all wines from 2003 took a while in the glass to evolve, some required decanting. This bottle (and the Shafer) stood out and were noticed!

Double decanted and put back in cellar for a few hours. Served with standing rib roast, which was a wonderful combination. Dark purple color with no signs of bricking. Notes of blackberries, cassis, cedar and a hint of dark chocolate. Beautiful finish with fully integrated tannins. Delicious. It is drinking well now but has many years before reaching maturity.

Deep in color, nose at first was heavy with spices, chocolate and heat. After being opened for half hour the nose became more defined with dark cherry, spices, choclate, a hint of blue berry. On the palate it was full flavored good structure with medium tannins an excellent wine

Popped, decanted and consumed. Didn't do the wine any justice as it was a bit tannic but its quality came through in spades. 1 left and it'll stay in the cellar for a few more years as this last bottle had more than enough fruit, acid and tannins for a longer bottle life.

despite drycab's warning: "You won't like it", I surely did, as wine complimented beef just perfectly. Being poured after 1997 Insignia didn't compliment this youngster one single bit. It will be interesting to revisit this wine 5 years from now.

A very good bottle of wine. This followed a Phelps 1997 Insignia. The Insignia was better. What I liked about the Hundred Acre was its complexity . It is from a tough year, but the wine showed well and could have benefited from a longer decant time. It was a treat and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This will improve over the next 4-5 years at least and probably will be at its peak in 5-10 years from now.

Blind Cab Tasting: Tasted blind. This followed the 06 Schrader CCS - Tough act to follow for any wine. I can't help but think that it may have shown better if it wasn't right after the Schrader. The Kayli Morgan showed a dark chocolate note that was quite different from the milk chocolate note in the Schrader. That took a while to get used to... This wine had nice dark fruit flavors with the dark chocolate gaining in intensity through the long finish.

Tasted over 6 hours. Nose is oak, vanilla, pepper. Drank smooth. About the 4-5th hour developed into sweet baby corn...red beets...finished like fresh 100 dollar bills off the presses. I'm not joking either.

Opened and decanted about an hour. Paired with a filet mignon at Izzy's Chop House in Corte Madera. Black bramble fruit on the nose. Gobs of chocolate, mocha, and vanilla and vanilla, mocha and chocolate on the palate. The wine is almost a dessert in itself it is so rich and lush. Ends with a semi-dry, sweet orange finish. Very Good.

The usual panoply of aromas and flavors: sweet dark fruit, vanilla, chocolate, espresso, earth, cedar, licorice, and violets. Creamy and dense but energetic with incredible length and persistence. A stunningly good wine. One of my favorite '03 CA Cabs.

Just too much of everything -- too much jam, 15.9% alcohol, body like heavy cream keeping it all in the mouth too long. More than once we found ourselves reaching for a glass of water to wash it down. All that would be quite tolerable in a wine a fifth of the price, but at this level such heavy-handedness was inexcusable. Huge in every way, including disappointment.

I realize it is very early to try this wine but I was very curious. Dark purple, full bodied, rich, opulent. Flavors of chocolate, coffee/espresso and cassis. Sweet but the tannins are overpowering right now. A little hot too. I'll wait another 2 years at least to open the next one.
