My first tasting of Two Buck Chuck. Though this wine was very strange for a Shiraz, I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. My expectations were very low before tasting this. It's drinkable, but I wouldn't want to drink it very often at all.

This was our "mystery wine" at a recent tasting. Dark red, inky colour. A rather strange and unpleasant odour: funky, sweaty, farm-yard, with some red fruit emerging towards the end. Medium bodied, fruit flavours dominate at first, then soft tannins come through at the finish. Very easy-drinking everyday wine, but a little jammy and flabby for my liking.

(Tasted blind; double-decanted 8 hours earlier) Whoa. Bizarre, aromatic Viognier like nose. Wild estery fruit on the palate with some licorice. Frankenwine -- tastes nothing like Syrah. I almost like it anyway, but it's just too bubblegum-like.

This bottle must have been from a different tank than my last one. This was a pleasant improvement over the 03 vintage with more flavor and not as light. Some adequate fruit concentration and a touch of spice.

Surpsingly still drinkable. Some sediment. Color slightly brown. some fruit, almost no finish.

Honestly, nothing special in this shiraz - very little spice. But some sweetness makes this perfectly drinkable at $2!
