Opened for Thanksgiving, but it is too sweet to go with dinner. Saved it for dessert or just sipping. Honeyed botrytis nose. Still quite sweet and tart. I don't think this will ever fully resolve.

Pale gold. Medium sweet. Citrus lemon. Peach and apple. Honey. Finish of minerals. A special zing I can’t place, this is my first aged Riesling, could this be the petrol I hear about? Delicious.
Clear, deep gold in color, medium legs. Orchard fruits on the nose, apple, goose berry, some honey and a hint of petrol. Medium sweet but bright and refreshing with high acidity on the palate. It has a medium plus body with good viscosity, very juicy, mouthwatering. Flavors of apple peel, baking spice, brown sugar, and nectarine. Finish is dry and longer than medium. This is great riesling. It's very alive and will live for at least another decade.

pale gold; bright peach, harmonious fruit/acid balance, sweetness integrated, accented by food; delicious tonight. seems to be within its optimal range.

Consumed over two nights, this showed more brightness and freshness on night two, so there is still plenty of time to go. Ripe peach, subtle red fruit tones, light honey, apple skin, touches of brown spice and seamless balance made for a complete experience. It felt a touch heavy on the first night, but that completely went away on night two where the peach got fresher and the honey retreated. Ready to go now with some significant air, but no hurry to finish well stored bottles.

Deep golden color is showing maturity. This is confirmed upon tasting. Unsweetened baked apple sauce and crumbly earth on the nose. Mouthwatering - the acidity mixed with pure, complex fruit just calls for another sip. This is a great bottle of Riesling. I can definitely see the strawberry notes that David S mentions. (94)

Nose: The nose is aromatic and balanced with peaches, red apples, some petrol, apricots, floral tones, and a bit of honey. This is showing maturity, but there is still a good amount of vibrancy to the fruit.
Taste: Medium bodied with medium+ acidity. There is excellent depth and balance with the acidity showing a refreshing quality. There is a honeyed quality to the tones of peaches, red apples, apricots, florals, and some caramel tones.
Overall: This is a lovely, mature Spatlese. There is still a good amount of freshness to the tones, but with a depth, balance, and refinement to it all. This is drinking beautifully right now and can sail along for a while longer.

HDH Burgundy Auction; 4/1/2016-4/2/2016 (Chicago, IL): #06-02, 9% abv. Slight hint of petrol on the nose, with some stone fruit and green herbs as well. The palate shows a lot of the same petrol and stone notes, with a bit of white cherry, lemongrass, and sweet citrus. Moderately sweet, with awesome acidity, this is in a very nice spot. A bit soft on the palate, I have a little trouble imagining what this becomes with more age (but perhaps that's a shortcoming of my own imagination more than this wine). Delicious now though.

Consistent to other recent reviews. Going to be difficult to keep my hands off the three bottles remaining, but I'd really like to track the development in 5, 10 & 15 years.

Pretty much what Rieslingfan and mdefreitas said. Still quite youthful with lots of bright fruit and time ahead of it, very elegant, and all too easy to drink.

Biryani @ Salil's (Vernon, CT): Beautiful and youthful; not showing much in terms of secondary flavors, but perhaps shedding some of its sweetness. Bright, juicy and chiseled.

Bright, fruity and still youthful, the 2001 Kirschheck is slimming down and showing greater minerality. The finish is just off dry, and very persistent.

Light golden color. Sweet-smelling stone fruit nose. The palate's density is special; moderate sweetness is complemented by mouth-watering acidity and secondary notes of candied orange peels.

Vivid gold. Stewed lemons, wilted flowers, and petrol on the nose. Voluptuous on the palate, with notes of lemons, melons, and flowers against scintillating acidity. Sensational.

Pretty much what Rieslingfan said (same bottle, visited a day later), classic Norheimer Kirschheck cherry and mineral flavours, but with the voltage turned way up. The sense of vibrancy and energy here is really something. Absolutely fantastic wine.

Checking in on this wine at age 12, and it's a thrilling experience. Vibrant fruit and electric acidity dominate, bringing an intensity that recalls the vintage. This particular bottle showed almost no maturing characteristics, so based on a one bottle sample it would seem that there is a long future ahead for the wine.
Simply amazing Riesling.

Deep. Yellow. Apples and lemon in the nose. Good balance of acid and fruit, lots of life. Full, rich and long. Seems rather primary for such an old German. 4-12-16-7: 89/100.

Gold; Somewhat reserved but complex nose of citrus, stone fruit, and some tropical fruit. Palate is beginning to develop beautiful nuance while preserving the tangy, green-apple acidity. Very nice.

Youthful white cherry and peachy fruit augmented by more developed smoky, burnished and creamy flavour elements in a medium weight whole with bright acidity underneath keeping it very precise and bright. Great balance and depth and drinking very well now, though the fruit and acidity suggests there's still some time ahead of this.

Very clean, balanced riesling with a bit of crispness and fruit aromatic complexity (peach, pineapple, lime). Could use a bit more minerality for structure.

(AP 06 02) On the terrace at the end of a gorgeous Indian Summer, with Martin & Diana Penny. First of six recently purchased from Bentleys of Ludlow. Hazel colour, fresh rounded nose, delicious moderately complex palate. To be sipped and savoured - a perfect aperitif. Very well balanced. After a day, it acquires more complexity, with notes of peach and hazelnut, and excellent acidity.

Szechuan feast with (mostly) Rieslings (Chez moi): Donnhoff delivers again (does he ever miss?) with a great nose of quince, pineapple and a slight hint of petrol. The elegant, racy acidity is in perfect balance with the minerals and sweetness, which is at what you would expect from a Spatlese. Still young, but this is one six-pack I completely rushed through. Delectable.

German, Alsatian and Champagne with Szechuan. (Szechuan Gourmet 56): A brilliant wine, but still pretty much shut down. Not much going on aromatically and on the palate you can tell there are great ingredients there, but they're still coming together. Tremendous depth and structure, but showing a bit chunky with a lack of focus. Mineral and stone fruits dominate at the moment with floral notes and the wine still shows primary sweetness. A- now, but with A potential.
