Sigurdson inspired "open that bottle night ". Has been in the cellar from before 2011. Has really mellowed. Not oxidized so we will use it for our sauce and drink the rest with our Chateaubriand.

The wine looks garnet at rim and dark ruby/purple. It smells like red currant, cranberry, prune and oak. Right out of the bottle It tastes sharp and narrow, like cranberry, oak, prune, and medicinal. Touch of white pepper. The body is medium/full with firm tanniins. The wine has narrow texture and medium plus acidity. Not sure if its over the hill or just wasn't ever round and full to begin with.

This bottle much better than last one. Notes of cherry in nose and taste. Acidity is a little stronger than I like. Wouldn't buy it again even at this price.

Thought this might be a "find", what with the Penfold label, but it is pretty vin ordinaire. Ended up using about half the bottle in a spaghetti sauce (which was very good).

Nice dark color, full bodied wine. The nose seemed to settle down from a strong alcohol nose to some fruit candy. Taste of fake fruit with some tannins on the back end. No spice from the shiraz. Real basic/cheap wine. Some may like it. Would not purchase again.

Truly a drink now wine in every sense but a nice little quaffer. Smoother than I expected and more fruit-forward than I'd like but still a little pepper from the Shiraz. Much better on day 1 than day 2.

Average wine. Other posters accurately describe this wine's flavor profile. No finish on this one. Good for the price, and would be OK with just about any quick and simple fare.

Not bad as a cheap quaffing wine, but for the money - there IS better out there. Ruby colored, slightly watered down appearance. Simple on the nose, cherry and berries. Medium bodied, fairly simple with berries and soft tannins. Nice balance for a simple wine. Used to be a go-to everyday wine, but I've learned there is better out there. This may be my last bottle of this. . .

I didn't really like the bouquet at all... smells like a barnyard with hay and manure and animals... The taste was sort of tannic, a bit of heat and some spice in it. I wouldn't recommend this wine, but other people seemed to like it.

Dark red color. Nothing special on the nose (smells mostly like cheap red wine). Tastes like it smells. Kind of a hot earthy taste. THere's a sour/bitter component on the mid-palette that reminds me of eating a raw olive. Finish is like the rest of it, dark earthy, and cheap. Maybe a little dried fruit. Overall, not real balanced and nothing special here. Not even worth the $8 I paid.

Strong fruit in the nose, gave the impression of a typical fruit bomb. Deep purple ink in color. Wasnt the typical fruit bomb, but a nice smooth drinker with spicey tobacco notes. Penfolds does it again. We really enjoyed.

Good example of "Life's too short to drink mediocre/bad wine". Totally unimpressive with high acidity and no finish.
