Medium garnet in color with a bit of orange & clearing at the edges. Full, fragrant & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of strawberries, currants & cherries with overtones of dried orange peel & floral notes of roses, minerals, earthy/dusty, dried herbs, anise, spices & a hint of tar & cedar notes. Medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe red fruit flavors of red cherries, strawberries and tart cranberries with dried herbs, minerals, earthy, some truffles, spices & oak. Long lingering dry smooth finish. Drinks quite well with decanting and extended airing although it has potential to continue developing with further aging.

Menthol, candied plums, and tar. Plum flavors, strawberry, tar, rose petals. Tannic. This is young, and gives glimpses of really great Barbaresco characteristics. Hold.

Tight on day one. On day two, opened up into some pretty cherry fruit, but still with some significant structure underneath. This has excellent components, and I suspect will be really nice in several years. Needs a serious (like 10 hour) decant now.

I am not sure why this wine is receiving such low ratings, as I found it to be a spectacular Barbaresco. I guess I actually contributed to that low scoring with an 88 a while back. All I can say is that this wine has really come together in the intervening time. There was bright fruit and spice on the nose and palate. The wine followed a fun trajectory of change on the nose from a little bit smoky, then on to hints anise to a period of full blown anise, all while the fruit held up with cherry hints all the way. The acid and tannin balance was in excellent shape, a good reflection that the 2006 vintage is pretty much ready to enjoy.

Excellent fruit backbone. Tart and lots of tannin; could probably use a few more years in the bottle, but clearly has the legs to do it. Decanting would likely have helped take it to a higher level. Nose seemed a little one-dimensional, at present, although I do get notes of licorice and cherries.

Premature to judge. My error drinking too soon and without proper decant effort. Comples and lots going on but needs time to settle and develop...and awkward teenager with loads of potential!

Lots of tannins atop a medium weight wine that is not overripe or overoaked but definitely lacks complexity, intensity or charm. Pretty underwhelming and neither worth the tarif nor even close to the quality of the 04.

Tough wine to judge. Very tight at open, unpleasant. After an hour started to soften. On day 2 also dominated by tannin and wood. But significant underlying fruit, and some nice flowers on the nose under the toasted notes. A lot going on, a but of a mess right now, but has potential with integration. Leave go to 2016 at least.

Very good. Perfect length, lots of soft tannins, full on depth. This is the right time go drink a beauty like this.

The prettiest and readiest of the bunch, imo, but not without cellar potential. This is starting to show the mint, meat, spice that I love.
