Hunter Whistlestop 2019 #1 (Hunter Valley): Toast, honey, apple, a little muted butter. Juicy, mouth watering acidity, flavours are similar to the nose but with the butter more to the fore. Nice.

Lime and acid. Body a little flabbier than normal for semillon this young. Makes me question the longevity. Classic hunter sem flavors, but perhaps best to drink up young

Unscrewed and poured. Strange, nose smells like grass and cat pee... almost exactly like a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Palate shows many of those characteristics, with light, tart lemon, and only the mildest of acid. The finish goes to more spicy lemon and grass. The finish has some volitile acidity that isn't pleasant, leaving the palate feeling off balanced and tart. Definitely not as good as the other Elizabeths I've had, and really not very Semillon like. I was pretty worried when I saw the added sticker on this in the store that said, "New Crisp flavor!" With so much Sauvignon Blanc being drunk in Australia these days, it seems as if Mount Pleasant is moving more towards this "modern" style Semillon... what a shame, and I agree, this isn't what I've learned to love about Semillon.
Originally scored this 78, but after a few hours this really mellowed out and got more typical. Still has some of the Sauv. Blanc character that I originally noted, but the VA on the finish is no longer there. More pleasing, mellow acidity on the finish. Still not wholey in balance, though.
{screwcap, 11.5%} First time I've ever seen Eliizabeth available in the vintage year, but there it was on the label: 2010. And it's a very different style of wine to the traditional Elizabeth - this one is all soft grass and lemon, with diffuse acid on the palate and very little true semillon tanginess. At five years this will be a flabby mess, surely? Nice enough to drink now, I guess; light-bodied, flavoursome enough, with a shortish finish, but that's about all.

Very light and clear. Big fruity nose, grassy, pineapple and passion fruit. Tastes sweet, finishes short. Not what I'm looking for in a semillon.
