Tasted at winery: Dark shrooms, blackberry, cherry pit, clay-earth, musty oak barrel notes; 13 mo. oak age, 13% alc.; very intriguing --great character, excellent potential that I would love to follow: 92-93 in 10 years?

Fragrant, spicy, slightly lifted. Typical Graciano nose. Quite edgy and prickly on the palate. Lean, the fruit is in the aromatics at the moment rather than textural. It remains interesting but not really my thing. A linearity reflecting the cool vintage. Good acidity. Bright. Beautiful aromatics. ***

Single varietal. Aged in French and Hungarian Oak for 13 months. Cherry red colour. Explosive nose. Very fruity and full on. Modern styled. Very fresh and vibrant. Ages very well. A 96 I tried was like a recently bottled wine. Good wine but probably my least favourite of the range.

Contino (Rioja): Intesnse, slightly dusty nose. Good fruit. Grippy finish. Quite long. A little more rustic than the Olivio. Still very young. (**1/2 to ***)
