Perfect mid weight Tuesday night sipper. Lacking complexity or personality, tastes like generic red wine. But supple round generic supple red wine. Might come around in 5-10 years? This is a $20 bottle at best.
A great wine with classical notes of currant, toasted coffee and cedar tree. Also some not that disturbing modern notes of vanilla and chocolate. Medum-bodied like we want it with elegance and finesse. Lacks a little complexity to be an outstanding wine.
Bought 12+1 some years ago. The one bottle was for testing purposes tonfind out if the wine could stand cellaring untill.my sons confirmation in 4 years time. Totally corked wine made this assessment impossible so now I.must rely on notes here from CT. So PLEASE help me if you can ...
The bouquet is still a bit locked. On the palate a slightly sweet start with ripe red fruits and cassis, some earthiness and beautiful oak. A really pleasant wine, ready now and the next few years. Give it some air before drinking.
Mørk rød uten antydning til oransje kant. Mørke kraftige bær med toner av fiken. Sigarboks. Svært appelerende nese. I munn fin blåfrukt og modne tanniner. Utgang og ettersmak preges av fiken. Frisk. Medium+ lengde.
This time no emotions here. Damn vintage... Meaty aromas, also violets and sandalwood. Just fair on the palate with a good acidity and a short length. Marched with brassed tuna in wasabi and citrius sauce plus presa iberica with colombian nuts and honey.
Sin emociones está vez. Maldita añada... Aromas cárnicos, a violetas y sándalo.
Nose: blackcurrants, a hint of tar, some pencil shavings and hints of iron filings, flowery notes with violets, some barnyard aromas and some emerging notes of maturity, but still a youngish nose. Palate: medium bodied, blackcurrants, medium tannin, fine acidity, aftertaste of medium length. Not a heavyweight, but a classically built Bordeaux from a "non-hot" vintage with good freshness. Works fine now, but will need some more years to peak.
My first bottle of this wine since 2010 where it was very closed and not very impressive. This time it had develloped very positive with a significant smell of berries and a touch of farmyard. The wine devellopped very positive from 1-2 hours in the decanter. Medium length, very fruity taste with lots of tanins. Very comparable with many low-end cru classe wines. Good value for money. Will benefit from another 2-5 years in cellar and with potential to 10 years.
More red than purple in the color. The nose revealed some red fruit and earthy smells that you normally get from the medoc. Tasted some strawberry and cherry flavors with some minty undertones and slight oak that was well integrated. Medium finish. I liked it, but for the price, not exciting enough to purchase another.
Decanted 1 hr. Deep ruby, purple tinge in rim, widely spaced slow-moving narrow legs @ 13% abv. Nice medium(-)-medium nose developing Medoc aromas of blackberries, brambles, graphite, earth, rather closed. Dry, medium(-) acidity, medium(-) ripe tannins, medium alcohol and medium-medium(+) body. Medium-medium(+) flavours of blackberries, cherrries, pepper, leather, and cocoa. Very pleasant fresh texture, well-balanced tannins-alcohol-body-acidity. Medium-good length, 8+ secs, long fruit-driven finish with even a sweet ripe chocolate-covered cherry note in the end. Elegant and restrained, a good wine.
Classical Bordeaux nose, dark fruits, graphite/minerals, and some oak. The palate is stuffed with elegant fruit, good medium body, earthy but with fruit to back it. This is a very good bordeaux at a decent price.
Nice complexity & development on the nose: understated black currant fruit, smoke, earth, salty liquorice, pigsty, iron, fudge, mint and cedar. Steady, rounded, supple and salty mineral taste. Ready to go now, this 04 drinks really well. Much more enjoyable than upon release. Only one left, we should have bought more.
Smell of dark berries, some smoke maybe, as noted by others. On the mid palate not too much volume. subtle tannins, but noticeable acidity. Still youthfull, will go on for a few years. Had it with cheeses, over a 2 day period (vacuvin).
5th bottle of 6 consumed in the last 18 months - the best yet to date without decanting and getting too serious about it (this is afterall not a 1982 Latour). Casis, vegetal and a little smoky. Medium length finish, quite dry. This was good to go after 30 minutes open in the bottle. I enjoyed this; a very good, four squared cru bourgeois that could be 5th growth - of decent quality and value that rarely disappoints.
Pour half into a 375 bottle and recorked for another day. Needed a 2 hour decant to open up and show its true self. Some dry tannins still on the finish, but a nice wine that matched well so some grilled rib-eye steak.
Still young and firm, with quite a rigid structure. Crisp red fruit and angular tannins point to this needing quite a bit more time. Having said that, over 2-3 hours this started to open up to reveal strawberry, roses and softer cherry notes. On day two it had rounded out and became softer and fruitier. Decent, but my fear is that the 2004s are not quite coming round as I had hoped. There is still a touch of greenness about this one that may take some time to soften out.
Very pleasing classical Bordeaux nose, with blackcurrant, dark fruits, graphite/minerals, just the right touch of oak. lean and elegant fruit, medium body, quite mellow mouth feel to begin with - but it grows and ends in a long finish with fruits and tannins. Good value, I believe, and a Bordeaux within reach also for mere mortals.
Dekantert i en time. Er litt forknytt etter en time, men åpner seg nydelig opp etter to. Flott frukt for årgangen, fine stramme tanniner, god lengde.
Butter, pepper, metal and paprika in the bouquet. Pepper also in the taste, as well as unripe cherries and cassis. Juicy. Firm tannin which is a bit drying at first. After decanting and several hours of air the wine gained and was much more complex. Good oak.
Robe sombre.
A pleasing violet color with a hint of red. On the nose subdued blackcurrants. In the mouth concentrated blackcurrants, high acidity and tannins but not overpowering. Not very forward and would have expected more fruit concentration.
