Pale gold colored with medium intensity bubbles and low viscosity (11.5% ABV). The nose has medium (-) intensity aromas of white pear, brioche, grapefruit pith, white blossom and salted caramel. The palate is dry with medium (+) acidity, a light body and a medium (-) mousse. Flavors of citrus pith, brioche, white blossom, ripe white pear and lanolin. The mouthfeel is very smooth as the mousse has tamed itself with plenty of aging whilst the acidity is still bright and refreshing. The finish is a tasty affair that is medium in length and very satisfying- some spritz, some zing and fresh fruit surrounding the bready, brioche notes. This bottle has dubious provenance, it sat in my buddy Rewt's basement for god-knows-how-long yet is shows decent quality and aging capacity. As with most Non Vintage Cava, it is hard to tell the disgorgement date so I have no idea how long this bottle has slumbered. A curious web search made my jaw drop- $9. Yup, under 10 bones and you are drinking a very serviceable and delicious sparkler that is made in the traditional method out of Macabeo, Parellada and Xarel-lo grapes. I would be looking to stock up for the summer, this is a porch-pounder for sure. 88 points, and 5 stars.

Same lot number but of course a different bottle (see my note of 12/18/2023)--and possibly a different "me". Whatever the cause, I'm tasting this slightly differently tonight: Green apple peel, a hint of grapefruit peel, a touch of yeast. Vivid acidity and a decent aftertaste. With time in the glass, the yeasty component becomes more prominent. I suspect that in my earlier tasting I had too many preconceptions of what the wine would be like, and that this description is the more accurate of the two--but it may just be that even within a single lot there's some modest variation. [Tasted over more than an hour from the Jancis Robinson glass.]

[Lot #L-F203 JS3 23: 17] Green apple peel, earthy minerals, good acidity, surprisingly long aftertaste. You can certainly do better by spending more. But if this is your budget, it is very hard to find a white wine, bubbly or still, this good without spending more. I have had other lots in the past (last tasted in 2019) that deserved a score a point or so higher than this--I don't know whether quality has gone ever so slightly down or if it's just this particular lot. [Tasted from the Jancis Robinson glass. Also tasted from the Conterno glass, which brought out a very pleasant faint hint of vanilla, and from the Riedel Vinum Chianti/Riesling/Zinfandel glass, which brought out an interesting herbal note. The scores, however, were identical from all three glasses.]{On an impulse, I pulled down the old Riedel Vinum NV Champagne glass, which I stopped using years ago. Surprise! The wine shows better (from some points of view) from this glass than from any of the others, with less specificity and clarity, but greater richness. I even thought about raising the score, but didn't do so. If you have this glass sitting around, consider pulling it out for this wine.} (Retasting this from another bottle, it seems to me that at least in this lot, whether deliberately or by chance, this wine has shifted in the direction of "international sparkling wine" and away from the very distinctive notes of cava. To my tastes, this is a move toward blandness, so I hope it was not a deliberate choice, and that the ginger and earthy metallic notes that are much harder to pick up in this lot will return in future lots of this wine.)

Not worth getting philosophical over. All granny smith and rubber in the nose with one note tart lemon with considerable RS on the palate. Fairly high acid and large, active bubbles. Recommended for mimosas.

Tasted blindfolded. Light nose of green apple jolly rancher and not much else. Light bubbles on the tongue, high acidity, and high sugar level – somewhere between a dry and demi sec in sweetness. Palate is all over the place – green apples, crab apples, underripe lime, lychee, and a bit of minerals. Finish is way too long with sour apple candy, underripe citrus, and lemongrass.
My first thought is this is a prosecco style bubbly made with Sauv Blanc and some other grapes. This does not taste like typical prosecco – nor does it taste like typical champagne-style blends.
Taking my blindfold off – pale gold in color and a light stream of very fine bubbles. I stand by my thoughts on this.
The reveal: Jaume Serra Cristalino Brut. Wait a second, this is a Brut?!?!?! This wine had a lot of R/S going into it.
This is possibly the worst Cava I have ever consumed. $8.09/btl at Safeway w/ the 20% 6-bottle discount. Run away form this and buy yourself a bottle of Dibon Orange Label at $9.99 – you’ll thank me. If you need to slum it, even Cooks Grand Reserve will outclass this.

This bottle was rescued from a cellar in a 250-year-old house with a dirt cellar floor and had been there for an unknown amount of time. Sadly, it was oxidized beyond my willingness to drink it.

Tasted blind against Segura Viudas. This looked, smelt and tasted older. Like an aged sparkler. The Segura Viudas was much more lively, bright and deep on nose and palate.

11.5% alcohol; imported by CIV (USA), Sacramento, California; unusual disclaimer on the label denying any connection with Louis Roederer's Cristal Champaign; standard wire cage with a decorative enameled cap depicting a scene more reminiscent of China's Great Wall than anything in Spain; light to medium foil, composite cork; weak to moderate pressure with surprisingly few bubbles; the Cava is a deep apple-juice amber with fast to medium legs; the stopper has no aroma but the Cava itself has a deep-welling nose of peach nectar, pear juice, and apple/crabapple juice embedded in a haze of alcohol; the bottle was opened yesterday to celebrate Mother's Day (inauspiciously as it turns out; Sharon fell down and fractured her leg early this morning), preserved in the fridge and with a Mumm stopper, and not really evaluated until 24 hours later, at approximately 20 degrees C; as I first recognized yesterday, this sparkling wine appeals to the middle and back of the tongue, leaving a long finish one doesn't often find in 'the traditional method' (secondary fermentation in the bottle, this bottle, as the label puts it); sweetness is minimized in favor of something far deeper, a kind of fruity bitterness that lingers on the tongue; pair with organ meats like heart, liver, and tongue, or with hard cheeses like Gouda, Emmenthaler, Gruye're

Deep golden colour with large vigorous bubbles initially that tail off into very small bubbles with low vigour. Light aromas of brioche and hard cheese rind over some ripe red apple and faint citrus. On the palate, a crisp and light presence with a broad foam. Flavours of breadiness and light apple cider. Not much evolution, things fall off in intensity quickly to leave a short and clean finish. Low complexity in a dry and simple framework. Bubbles for everyday.

I had this with grilled steak on 7/2/18 (Not the best pairing, but it just worked out that way). It had a fragrant expressive bouquet of pear, lime, orange and mineral aromas. The palate was rich and dry with flavors of pear, lime, orange and chalky minerals.

Surprisingly elegant and balanced, this is lovely in apple and brioche aromas and flavors. At the edges there are hints of stony minerality and nuttiness. This doesn't have the creamy mousse or fireworks of a great champagne, but I've certainly had many sparklers that cost more and taste far worse. For $8, this is outrageously good.

Served well-chilled (6c/43f, 11.5% abv) for a celebratory occasion. Nice bubbles, Floral Nose. Citrus & green apples, but a little too much sweetness on the palate, especially for a Brut. Medium finish.
Well-crafted and Crisp, but uninspiring.
Good value for $9, but price by itself isn't a good reason to improve the rating. 83 pts.

A curiosity of Cava exploration: Nose has diesel like on Alsace riesling? Almonds, and clearly yeast of rising dough (overpowering yeast), mineral, a bit more subtle butter (but not like oak-derived butter, but instead like what I would have of fresh baked bread with salted irish butter). dry, medium to medium+ acid.

A very good value at less than $7.00. It has a slight bitterness and edginess compared to Champagne or California sparkling wines which is probably attributable to the different blend of grapes being used in Cava. It is definitely well made and well balanced, if a bit simple.

A good sparkling wine. Not too sweet or too dry. Had it for New Year's Eve, and had a few other drinks already, so I wasn't able to review it properly. Nice "pop" from the cork, though. :) Happy New Year!

Bland fizzy lime without much character or depth or anything of interest. But it's not actively bad, and for $7 that's an impressive achievement. Can't do better for the price.

You know, it may not be real complex, but it was balanced with nice tree fruit, mild yeast, decent acids and not too sweet. Drinks as good or better than a lot of domestic sparklers at 2 to 3 times the price. Nice little value and a good summer deck thirst quencher.

Pale straw in color with hints of green, this sparkling wine showed green apple, ginger and mint on the nose. The mouth feel brought dry, minerally elements of almonds, nutmeg and lime. The finish was choppy with the acidity fighting with the minerality.
Purchased for $9.49US, this is a good value but the overwhelming minerality and low level fruits make it a sparkling wine I'll not search for again.

The bubbles are a bit big, the texture a bit clunky, but this delivers lots of flavor, big, yeasty, doughy and an almost "mature" character. Not a lot of refinement, but this satisies and priced so right.

Hey, we are sitting on the porch during a rain storm, which in South Carolina means it is probably under 95 degrees. This sparkler does not blow us away, but it is competent. It does not seem overly yeasty. It tastes a little bit like carbonation. I can't pick out any of those intriguing characteristics we often get from the dosage, but it is under 10 bucks a bottle. Clean and tasty. My palate is cleansed, and my friends are not thirsty. Lots of little, aggressive bubbles. Life is good.

I am not sure you can do much better at this price point in the world of wine. Good acidity, nice nutty aroma - pairs well with a miriad of foods. A little short and perhaps a little harsher than I prefer on the finish, but for 8 bucks I am not complaining. For a few dollars more I think there are a number of better Cavas, but if you were on a tight budget and needed to buy a couple of cases of something for a crowd, this would be a good choice.

Middle good. I've been told that the "extra dry" is very good. This was on sale for seven bucks. Not bad for the price. Citrusy flavor profile, light mousse, Reisling fans wouldn't like the dryness which is very dry. Drank the whole bottle so it must be ok.

Full nose of toast with a hint of citrus and herbs. Rich mouthfeel, the palate starts out with some bread and citrus followed by an apple midpalate with a sour-apple finish. Great at the price point. **Please note: per my bottle, Wine Spectator's listing & the second label image with this listing (third line from the bottom, to the left of 'Product of Spain'), the producer is Jaume Serra. Cristalino is the brand name, such as Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi. CT won't accept the change when I try to edit it.

Tasted this at a Spanish wine fair in vivocity - it has been renamed "Arte Latino" I think. Certainly not the most complex or engaging Cava I have had, but I thought this was very good at its price - really, really good for its price in fact. Yeasty, baked bread nose, almost champagne like. Nice palate, a little low on the mousse, but a good balance between acid and fruit, with white pear and apple flavours. Rather yummy.

Lightly lemony. Impressive rich, yeasty nose that promised a bit more than the wine could deliver on the palate. I get some odd funky/metallic notes on the palate, but it is otherwise fairly pleasant. Clear light yellow with coarse bubbles, the nose is yeasty with pear and mineral. Mouthfeel is tart, quite acidic, mouthfillingly fizzy, and finishes clean. A lemon Pledge note appears in the mid-palate and finish. All together, pretty nice and it reminds me (a bit oddly) of Duvel. Great QPR! This wine is not unknown to the public judging by the long list of TNs associated with it. Compared with many low-cost sparkling wines this one does very well, offering a surprisingly toasty, yeasty nose. Very lively, large bead. The only disappointment perhaps was on the palate where the wine fell away a bit, slightly thin and lacking structure; but for the mood and the moment, and not being too particular, it makes for an excellent inexpensive apperitif.

I have been wondering about this Cava for about 6 months. It's a nice little Cava and certainly worth the low price. It won't win any international awards and the yeast is a bit to apparent at times but stilll it is a very easy drinking sparkling wine with carbonation that holds reasonably well. Very accessible and great for novices to the bubbly. Although I prefer Marques de Gelida and Francois Montand for about $1 more, this one offers a nice change of pace. Try all three and find your own favorite. Each should be $10 or less per bottle.

Well-crafted and Crisp, but uninspiring.
Good value for $9, but price by itself isn't a good reason to improve the rating. 83 pts.

A very good value at less than $7.00. It has a slight bitterness and edginess compared to Champagne or California sparkling wines which is probably attributable to the different blend of grapes being used in Cava. It is definitely well made and well balanced, if a bit simple.

Yeasty on the nose (more that I appreciate). Ok balance, good dryness, decent carbonation. Toasty with pear, green apple and a somewhat strong minerality. Good, and a good buy that makes sparkling more than just a special event thing. 86-87.

Concentrated and yeasty with some citrus. Smoother, drier and fuller than their Extra Dry. Good for cocktails and everyday drinking. Just about the best sparkling I've ever had at this price. A stunning value at under $10.

We enjoyed this sparkling wine. Great value. $7 dollars a bottle. Clean with a simple but nice structure. Some citrus. Very drinkable.

Good everyday sparkling wine and good for the price, but nothing too distinguishing. Crisp, clean, a bit of bread dough. Correct and serviceable.

On its own, very dry, little fruit, okay for the price.
Better when tried it with some food (e.g. parmesan cheese)

I drank a miniature, 187 ml, bottle; cost $4. Much less expensive than miniature bottles of real champagne. Not as good though! A reasonable value. I would buy this wine again.
Alcohol 11.5% by volume. No website located for this wine.

Still an excellent value. Losing some of its flavors as this gets older.

Doubt I would have this on its own, but I use it as a base for kir royales with a twist of lemon or any other "champagne" cocktail. Good bubbly for the price.

Good mousse but very little bead. Fairly persistent citrus aromas with hints of nut and notes of toast underneath. Light bodied and soft with citrus flavors driving the palate. Finishes with a vibrant acidity that keeps it sharp, clean and appealing. Very good QPR. 85-87.

Another solid bottle. Sure there is bottle variation in these but for the $$$ I can live with it. Drank from stemless BODUM flutes which somehow seemed fitting for an at home Saturday night.

Crisp and nutty and very drinkable. We drank this with spicy Thai food and unfortunately it was not the best match-- did not hold up to the spice well. But we would definitely drink this again and probably pair it with a nice seafood or fish.

A particularaly nutty doughy bottle. These always seem to vary but this bottle reaffirms that when this is right, it is the best $6 bottle of bubbly out there.

For $6 on sale, a heck of a deal. This wine is simple, fruity and light, with a pleasant toastiness underlying. It's nose, however, is minimal and its bubbles somewhat coarse. It has a medium finish that's kind of winning. I won't hesitate to buy this for champagne cocktails or the next big get together.

pale yellow greenish color with green apple nose but some strong yeast odors. still, minerally, crisp and fresh on the mouth with a reasonable finish. I liked the extra dry more however with its hint of sweetness. good value here save for the yeasty nose.
