HWS Game dinner 2016 (@ RvD): Beautiful, tight and focused wine. Beautifully dry with good citrus acidity, a great concentration and length. Still much more youthful than the Goldberg and more complex as well. Great wine!

Lots of sweet exotic spices and dried fruits on the nose. Palate is rich and acidic but combined with nose comes of as off-dry with a sweetness reminiscent of cream sodat.

Golden yellow (mature color relative to age). Very dense and extracted, unusually rich for Mosel. Expressive nose of herbs, apricot, honey, exotic fruits with a bit of smokiness. Good minerality and well balanced acidity for a long finish. If there is anything to critique it is a less than outstanding structure. But first and foremost it is incredibly enjoyable to drink. Absolutely delicious!

Very deep yellow color, almost golden, reminding me more of heavily oaked Chardonnays than Rieslings. Incredibly charming nose with floral sweetness, honey, almonds and sweet citrus. Overall impression is slightly reserved and elegant, not that opulent. On the mouth the wine is big but not oversized, offering acidic spiciness, some honey, a touch of slightly Champagne-y leesiness, dry wood aromas, overripe peaches and fruit stones and a hint of minerality. The 14 g/l RS in prefectly in balance with the acid and the mouthfeel is med-bodied; it is impossible to say whether this wine would be dry or off-dry. The wine finishes with lime and minerality, some honey and a touche of brioche leesiness.
Very convincing, complex, balanced and uncompromising Riesling for pure enjoyment. Will easily pair with food, but probably fares best on its own, when one can concentrate on the different aromatic layers of olfactory complexity of the wine. Will easily age for at least a decade more. I'm convinced of van Volxem's style: this must be one of the best young Rieslings I've ever had. A bargain at under 40€.

3hr decant. straw yellow in the glass. on the nose, gorgeous slate, rainwater, ripe peaches. very ripe peach, tangerine & grapefruit palate. slightly better balance than the Volz & Goldberg, but this is lacking the brightness I enjoy in Saar riesling.

No score as I am fuzzy about my experience with this bottle a few weeks ago. I am certain it was much better than the Saar riesling which disappointed.

Yellow, pure, clean, high viscosity. Med+ acid, med body and intensity. Cloying caramel. Not a favourite.
Maybe flawed.
My notes: Violets, caramel, salt-preserved lemons, coffee liqueur, apricots.

Buttery nose, fruit-forward. On the palate minerals, mango, lemon zest, bitter orange. Quite good.

No formal notes but it seemed to be a bad bottle comparing to the previous I had. So no points for that reason.

Boekenhoutskloof Winemakers dinner. (@ Bottles; Sas van Gent, Netherlands): Beautiful white fruits and minerals in the bouquet. On the palate the same impressions, sweet notes, flint stone and slate. Very youthful and complex. A great and delicious wine with a good amount of residual sugar.
