(From a half bottle) Fresh, expressive nose of red fruits. Nice and fresh in the mouth as well; strawberries and sour cherries. Good weight and a decent-length, slightly grippy finish. Still coming across as on the young side, but drinking well.

(From a half bottle) Nice deep, rich nose. Quite plush in the mouth - real weight to it. Still quite primary, but starting to develop a bit more complexity. Decent length. Tannins well integrated. Certainly has more depth and weight than you would expect from a village wine (apparently there are a fair few declassified 1er cru grapes in there). Very approachable now but with a long life ahead of it.

Belies its status as a village wine. Wonderful composition and balance in all areas. Only downside is that it faded quickly on the 2nd day. I would advise a brief 30mins decant and it should be enjoyed within the day.

Zestful and refreshing on pulling the cork: puppyish fruit, but clearly of acceptable pedigree, with plenty of acidity. It does not take long to become more serious, as the tannins kick in and add weight, and the tannins are both fine and meaty. A classy young village Burgundy, and for me it's good enough not to be tempted to keep it. vg+

One of my favorite producers has always been Nicolas Potel and now I've finally found a source for his new negotiant wines under the Maison Roche de Bellene label in my local area. This Volnay is a nice transparent garnet red color with sweet red berry scents on the nose. Acidity is well balanced at the front end with very nice fruit at mid-palate. Decent length on the finish. Overall this was pretty tasty as a young wine and I would definitely purchase again.

Drank over 2 nights. Very approachable even the 1st night. Good structure and plenty of fruit. Remakably complex for a village wine. has plenty of years left in it.

Youthful, bright garnet. Sweet strawberry nose with a touch of enticing smokiness. The acidity is immediately apparent, but it's nicely offset by a gorgeously generous sweetness and a wonderful, slightly lactic or even creamy finish of fudge and toffee. Delicious but perhaps expensive for what it is.

A little tight. Austere wine. Rich with some nice perfume notes.

Very nice wine; a touch of alcohol on the nose; nice fruit, dark raspberry. Enjoyed at Go Pro games Matsuhisa Vail.
