Opened and poured, this wine begins somewhat reserved on the bouquet with forward earthy elements, airing brings out spice and red fruits that are nuanced and detailed. Additional airing transforms the initial spicy red fruits to more dark fruit with underlying earthy elements. At this stage the wine has begun to show a combination of youthful fruit and some underlying maturing components. The color is a slightly tarnished medium to dark ruby. The medium bodied palate shows a excellent texture and a firm but lengthy finish. This wine continues to drink well and has developed nicely since its release.
Deepish garnet color. Nose offers up small red and dark fruits, spice, earth and hint of bret. Lovely rich ripe fruit but not cloying with excellent mineral acidity. Mouth filling. VVG 1er Cru. Classic Chevillon wine.
Another excellent showing for this wine. On this occasion the wine seems more restrained and structured than a bottle tasted about a year ago. This bottle gives the impression the wine will benefit from additional bottle age.
Opened and poured, this wine showed well from beginning to end for its youthful, forward fruit, texture, aromatics and underlying structure. The aromatics begin with red fruits and spice notes. Black fruits and earthy undertones emerge with airing. The color is a medium ruby with a purple hue. The medium bodied palate shows excellent structure and texture that balances the youthful fruit. The wines gives a medium length finish. This wine will benefit from additional bottle age as it has the components to develop additional complexity and nuance.
