Nice medium-bodied burgundy with chocolate and red berries in the nose. nice balanced spicy taste with acidity and tannins beginning to integrate. Very good with lamb filet with a sauce of honey-mustard and saint marcellin cheese afterwards. Yummie!

Friday Night Double Blind Tasting $40+ (Bin 75): Pretty red ruby; red sour cherry, pure, tart and taut with a good dose of fat; sour on palate, limestone, cherry, leaner midpalate, satisfying finish; a little one dimensional but very good.

Duller ruby; perfumed, floral, tart, sour raspberry and cherry, thin layer of fruit buffers the intense mineral quality, sappy; bottle subjected to heat in the car and seeping- possibly a little advanced but still kicking strong.

Translucent dull ruby core with pink rim; floral, good new oak, fresh, rose, a little meatiness; some tannin on the finish, some sharp acid that should settle with all of the other components that are so accentuated at this stage of its life; give this a couple years to get better.

Tuesday Night with a Special Guest (Dave's House): Popped and poured, deep ruby in the glass. Showing much cleaner than the Rhys served alongside it. On the nose, waxy cherry, licorice, earth, baking spice and crushed rocks. On the palate, tart acids, and moderate finish slightly clipped by some coarse tannin. Totally outclassed by the Rhys.

A Casual Tuesday (Dave's House): I can see how some may like this, but I don't think its for me. Nose is of red licorice and I found it a touch medicinal. Palate is better, with plenty of lush fruit and a pleasant finish. Didn't stand up to the Rhys served next to it.

Decanted 3 hours and rebottled. Nice nose of dark cherry with some notes of underbrush and flowers. Sour cherry fruit on the palate with nice minerality. Acidity was on the low side but there was still enough give the wine nice balance and an elegant mouthfeel. Some notes of smoked meat as the wine evolved. The finish was about 30 seconds with some grippy tannins showing. This is a little austere right now and is obviously young. Should benefit greatly for 4 or 5 years cellar time. Pretty decent value burgundy at around $50.

Sampled with wholesale rep. Stunning Burgundy, one to grab up before it's gone. Good color, with a nose packed with roasted black cherry with notes of saucisson, Dark fruit, almost jammy black cherry on the palate with very ripe yet gentle tannins and caressing acidity. Nice plush finish that echoes for minutes. A showy and voluptuous Beaune to relish now through 2020.

Fantastic burgundy from the Beaune. In a perfect spot right now with 10 years of age. Deep and complex but versatile and easy. What a joy!
