Straw colored. Lovely spiced apple aromas, with a touch of nutty oxidized notes too boot. Relaxed and effortless on the palate, with just enough fruit to keep it buoyant and just enough acidity to keep it moving. Impeccable balance and delicious flavors. Wish I had lots more.

My last bottle of these. Truthfully, if I had more confidence in them not being oxidized, I would have waited even longer. No harm. This bottle was in great shape and drank quite well. Light golden in color. The nose is gorgeous. Really pretty with lemons, oranges, orange peel, some sea air too. On the palate, not quite as good. Not as complex as I hoped but still some complexity. Orange peel and lemons. Slightly bitter in an innocuous way. Nice finish. This dry as a bone. One of those wines I drank a lot of and now I am done. Good bye old friends.

Some different wines with friends (Sharon and Sashi's): I was quite worried about this one with all of the bad bottles reported. Luckily, the bottle was pristine (purchased on release). Very light golden in color. The nose has pears, lemons, wax and sea air. Complex and delightful. Medium to full bodied. On the palate, this is bone dry with citrus, pears, and chalk. Silky texture. Layered complexity. Exactly wine the hoped it would be.

Third time I have had this wine. Opened on Bastille day to see how this wine was doing at 10 years of age. From the great 2002 vintage in the Loire Valley. This wine has put on some weight since the last time I had it 5 years ago. Notes of lemon oil, minerals and some vegetal nuances. I liked this better when it was younger and more vibrant. 88 points.

Wet stone, oily citrus nose, with a hint of bruised apple coming on. On the palate the initail attack was very good, but slipped away quite quickly- the biggest set back to an otherwise interesting wine. Minerality, anise, citronella on the palate... but the fast fading presence of the wine suggests its time to drink up.

Compared to a recent bottle of the '04, this showed more obvious fruit characteristics, including a sort of overripe apple note on the nose, and considerably more flesh on the palate. It still has cutting acidity and that rock-solid mouthfeel of Savennieres, but it's in many ways a less interesting wine than the '04, though perhaps it just needs more time to work through its fruit.

Golden color - a sort of darkish maturing yellow. Aromas of apricot, honey, lemon, spice and, after a while, a hint of lychee develops. Similar flavors in the mouth. Nice acid base and structure. A pleasant medium finish. Pairs fairly well with Thai food: a sea food entree and Pad Tai rice noodles with chicken and shrimp..

More linear than I was expecting, although some complexity emerged by the third night, and the finish grew quite long. I'll age my last bottle further, given Baumard's reductive style of winemaking, but this will never be one of the more interesting Savennières.

My previous experiences with this wine have been inconsistent, with both tasty, developing examples as well as tinned-fruit nastiness. This bottle indeed initially some unpleasant tinned fruit and asparagus aromas, but these dissipated enough after an hour or so for the more pleasant elements to take over - fresh and baked apple fruit and just a hint of fresh wildflower honey. The wine held up surprisingly well; half the bottle was still quite enjoyable the next day. Perhaps it's just another example of chenin blanc's strikingly nonlinear aging profile, but I am also finding an anecdotal correlation between chenin blanc raised in stainless and these tinned fruit aromas that I so dislike. And finally, this is neither here nor there, as I usually like Baumard's savennieres, but for me it's just not the most distinctive expression of dry chenin blanc.

Rumors of this wines demise are sorely mistaken. There must be bottle variation because this bottle was singing. It was still showing young, lemony, nicely acidic and only a touch of that wooly funk that comes with aged chenin.

Definitely over the hill. Consumed over two nights, and decidedly tired and faded on day 2.
Similar to prior TN, lemon zest minerals and slightly honeyed, but less of each component. Absolutely even less on day 2. Showed best on day 2 and close to room temperature. Drink up and do not decant.

Smell: Smoky notes lead to hints of white flower, pine, and an obvious citrus
Taste: Flavors of lemon, lime, quince, chalk, and quince
Overall: This is a very nice wine. It's easy to enjoy, and offers a good sense of place and varietal characteristic. I would like to see the finish a little longer and this to be a little less one dimensional. There is brisk acidity, and the fruit is still showing well. This should last well for another 5 or more years with proper storage.

Medium gold color, and a nose of honey, apple, stone fruit and wet stone, plus some lactic notes. Broad and palate-coating in the mouth, with baked apple, honey and stone and some richness. Bright, sharp acidity and wonderful grip. A very clean style and definitely best at close to room temperature. Seems to be approaching maturity, but it still has a few years to go; this bottle lost a bit of verve about 4 hours after opening. I'll probably check in again in a year or so.

pale gold. Thought this might be corked upon opening, but experience with Loire whites led me wait a bit. Within 15 minutes, the initial aromas gave way to minerally, chalky, lime and melon aromas. The melon component really blossomed with air, and shared the stage with the muneral aspects or the aromatics. Nicely complex. Palate is nicely balanced between fruit and acid, and of medium wight. Citrus, melon, mineral, chalk, and just a touch of some earth combine to be very enjoyable. Was a decent match with a crab dip. Dry, but should show even moreso as it ages. No hurry to drink this one. Should develop additional complexity with more time.

Great stuff. Beautiful yellowish color. Med aromatics, apricot, mango, spices, quince. Silky, med to full body, med acidity, drinks well with a little bit of decanting time. Stone fruits, hint of exotic fruits, nuts, quince, pepper and a lot of minerality with a lingering finish. Beautiful balance.

Was worried it was corked when I first opened it, but that blew off quickly. Pale straw in color. Aromas of lime, chalk, and almonds. Flavors that were nutty, mineral, citrus (somewhere between lime and lemon). Chalky finish. Piercing quality to the flavors, not sharp but very intense. Had with citrus-rubbed salmon grilled on the bbq and an Asian spinach salad with orange and avocado--good pairing.

Had with lunch on patio. Lots of minerals, but not enough acidity to give the whole thing balance. This was better warmer than colder....from a 375. This is the third bottle we've had of this.. and it seems to show better from a 750... don't know why that would matter.

Not as dry as I'd been expecting, which perhaps distracted me from the minerally qualities which I expected (and found) in the glass. Unremarkable nose, but the taste was wet gravel with a faint chaser of something like unripe watermelon. Light to medium body. Served by my father as part of the runup to dinner. I liked the taste and the novelty quite a lot, especially with the chevre and figs we had as appetizers.

Not as expressive as the last bottle (this from 375), but still very nice. Good mouthwatering acidity, lean, some minerals, some petro on the nose and palate. LC gets some grapefruit and bitterness....but still very nice with a light lunch of shrimp salad, cold yellow/red pepper salad, and sauteed mushroomierooms. 3.5++

An excellent wine. What to you get? A mouthful of fruit, minerality and a flower garden. There is some age of this one and it shows. Much different than a year ago. Food friendly - oh, yes. I paired with grilled swordfish and roasted butternut squash risotto. This wine went perfectly with both. Baumard did again.

dry honey, almost like a sweet mead in terms of sweetness, but bone dry from the acids and minerality. I say, back up the truck to the loading dock on this wine. For chenin lovers, it probably does not get better than this for a daily drinker at a great price. This is wonderful terroir-driven wine of the highest quality. I feel fortunate to have a full case to enjoy over the next 5-7 years.

Nose showed lemon zest and flint. The palate was lemon, lemon zest, and minerals, slight honeyed taste, but crisp acidity kept it dry. Refreshing, tasty, interesting, and good qpr.

Light to medium gold color. The nose is minerally and light. The palate is steally, minerally and citric with good acid and slightly honeyed. A good effort for Baumard and a pleasant Savennieres.

Awesome. So many flavors kept popping into my head with every sip...honey, pear, pineapple, minerals.. on the nose, a sea breeze... It's been a long time that a wine has provoked so many flavor associations. Nice color in the glass and medium weight in the mouth. Good acidity and a long, long finish of tropical fruit... terrific wine.. An LC 4.0.

dry honey, almost like a sweet mead in terms of sweetness, but bone dry from the acids and minerality. I say, back up the truck to the loading dock on this wine. For chenin lovers, it probably does not get better than this for a daily drinker at a great price. This is wonderful terroir-driven wine of the highest quality.
