Found this hiding in the back of the cellar. Way past its prime (my fault) but in its day Im sure it was a gem. Now, loads of blunt tobacco and menthol. Still drinkable but missing that Cab Franc feature it certainly first shined with. Cheers.

Bought a case 2 years ago as a good value wine. Despite being a bit rough on the edges at that time it was a nice wine with food. Jump forward 2 years - this wine has developed into a little gem. Good fruit, nice structure, long lasting and nothing but positive remarks from friends over the last few months.

Excellent QPR! Dark fruits nose and palate, a bit of earth, nice acid/tannin/fruit balance, drinking well now as cocktail or with food, but hopefully should hold for a few years.

PnP initially, but then consumed bottle over the next few days, no formal TN. This is a 2009 Cab Franc from the Languedoc. Clear in appearance, dark ruby in color, barely fading to med ruby at the rim. The nose is in good condition, still seems quite youthful and straightforward, displaying black / blue fruits, a bit of licorice, some minerality in the background adding a bit of complexity. The palate shows off a dry wine with med/full body and med alcohol (listed @ 14%). There is that rustic, med intensity flavor of green bell pepper initially, along with blueberry and black cherry fruit, then a definite mineral or rocky component. It is a bit too fruit-extracted for my liking, but nowhere near over-the-top in this way...it is still enjoyable. The palate then comes clean with med acidity, supported by med level round and fairly supple tannins, leading into a nice, med length finish with black and blue fruits and some clove notes. This is a good quality wine that is certainly drinking nicely now, and should stay at this level for the next 2 years or so; it isn't intended to improve with further bottle age. Great WFTM.

Color: Turns your teeth purple. Nose: Light oak and cherry cola Palate: Dark fruit, tannins are present but well integrated and smooth, a nice med-long finish. Excellent with food (great with steak) or good on its own if you like a powerful wine.

Fruit led nose of black currants, and spice and leathery notes. Concentrated black currant and berry fruits lead the palate, with hints of espresso coffee and tar, rounded with a silky mouth feel. Soft tannins, which could do with more grip for my liking. I like this.

Saturday Walk Around Tasting 3/3/2012 (The Gourmet Shop, Columbia, SC): This wine is starting to make us all believers. Regardless of the fact that it is very reasonably priced, this is a big mouth full of flavor. Good dark color. Lots of intense berry on the nose. Nice hit of blackberry and black cherry fruit on the entrance, followed by a well controlled, but welcome and enhancing hit of some Cabernet Franc style earthiness. A little bit of black pepper spice. Surprisingly full in the mouth for a just past medium bodied wine. Not much influence from oak. Only medium tannins. Rounded and balanced. The finish is a little rustic exhibiting some light powdered graphite and black cherry.

I am very new to the "Vino" world but this wine has a wonderful release after decanting. Although it looks bold it has a soft velvet feel with a medium finish. I have enjoyed several 2009 bottles and will savor the 2 I have left. Utah only has 2010 vintage and the soft approach is finished sharply with a different nose entirely. I will sit on the 2010 to see what becomes of it in a few years.

89+, very good. Previous tasting notes are pretty accurate. Mix of red and green flavors with a nice long finish of chocolate and pepper. Good tannins but has a Nomacorc fake cork so I don't know how long this would last in a cellar.

Color: opaque. Nose: restrained floral, red berries. Taste: very nice balance of the tart, red/green cab franc with syrah and merlot to mellow. By itself it is quite tannic. This was very good with a braised lamb shoulder. Could certainly age for 3 years, but good with food now.

62% Cab Franc, 28% Syrah, 10% Merlot. Intense and fruit forward bouquet of black cherry and blackberry. Some fennel seeds and hints of chocolate. Full bodied with concentrated dark fruit supported by firm tannins. Blackcurrant and plum flavors are generous and intermingle with oak and chocolate. Despite it is made in a modern style, a hint of earth reminds that it’s a French wine. The finish is soft and peppery (retail $12.99)

Dark purple Cab Franc. A little spice and dark fruits on the nose. I get a pleasant green pepper flavor initially, followed by chocolate, cassis and plums. The finish is medium length, the tannins are a bit austere and green, but this wine is very nice for it's price, and goes well with food.

Dark red/purple with a slightly translucent edge. Fast forming legs, 14% alc. Blend of 62% Cab Franc, 28% Syrah, 10% Merlot, aged 10 mos in oak. Smells of dark berry fruit like blackberry and also some plum scents. Has a bit of that pleasant Syrah earthiness on the nose as well...some call this green pepper, it is a nice respite from the fruit bomb culture. I also get a little licorice. Then in the mouth, a medium bodied mouthfeel with nicely integrated tannins, drinking beautifully right now. Flavors of plum, scorched earth, and a background meaty nuance. Finish last 20-30 sec. So nice for the $$. Will last for another year or two, anyway.

Consistently good bottle of french Red. The Cab Franc-Sryah blend is the right match of fruit and acidity for my palate. Not hating this price or the quality level. This is a nice quality to price deal if you can find it!

Nice ruby to garnet red, semi-clear. Nice Cab Franc floral notes on these nose. The frontal attack is ALL Syrah-oak/smoke/spice, and then some secondary berry and cherry notes follow-suit. This is a nicely done French table red, that is very flexible and food friendly. Had the stuffing to last two days with a vino-cork system, then begain to fall-apart. For $11, this is a great case filler, and welcome on our table anytime.
