One of those back of the cellar finds - didn’t expect much TBH at this age. Actually it was quite lovely. Mature oak notes, rich dark fruit, reasonable acidity. A little trouble against tagliatelle and meatballs, but otherwise a great experience.

Dark fruit notes on the nose. On the palate it had notes of chalky, cocoa powder and coffee beans. The wine was lacking on the mid palate as it was lacking structure. Short finish. The wine was better with 1.5 hours + of being decanted. I feel the average rating to be very accurate. Maybe the wine was better when younger?

My previous note mentioned 'oakiness,' but I didn't find it in this last bottle (2 years later). A clean, fruit-driven wine with an almost black robe and lovely cherry, raspberry, and plum notes. Lighter than a southern Rhone; has some nice minerality, too.

a good qpr. let it breathe for an hour or so. leather and dark fruit on the nose, maybe a little sweetness. delicious brooding fruit, mildly tannic and just enough acid to pair nicely with a pesto-mushroom pasta.

Tuesday Night Double Blind <$30 (Bin 75): Cloudy dull crimson to the edge; ripe red and dark fruit, graham cracker, a little reductive (sulfur that I was not picking up on); ripe full mouthfeel, fig, raspberry, nice midpalate, you can taste the sunlight and hot rocks, smooth round texture with bitter finish, good nobility; swore this was CdP, couldn't get Sicilian terroir.
Dark garnet with ruby hues. Red cherry, mocha and licorice on the nose with undergrowth indicating evolution (or poor storage conditions). Med-bodied, soft with balancing acidity, evolved fruit and a medium to long aftertaste. Drink sooner than later.
(Italian Red Wine Tasting, WineGate) Clear, medium garnet. Clean, medium+ intensity, dense red fruit core at first sniff then animal notes with bacon and leather, earthy, black tea leaves. It felt developed. Dry with medium intensity, medium+ acidity, medium alcohol (14.10%), medium- body, medium- tannins, red currants, balsamic notes, thin, medium- finish. Good wine, highly priced (24 euros). Drink now I can’t see this changing to the better

Delicious. Starts a little vinegary, but give it a moment to open up. Unfiltered (lots of sediment). Not the most complex wine, but interesting enough, with a good balance of fruit, alcohol and tannin.

Solid quaity wine for $15. Drank on camping weekend. No detailed notes but a well structured wine with good flavor. Several comments from others also. Will pick up more.

An integrated oaky flavor, along with a fair amount of evolution in the glass from a certain leathery, even slightly bitter taste to a more fruity point of stasis made this an interesting wine.

Tough to dislike this wine. P&P absolutely exploded with asparagus (which I happened to be washing at the time), which blew off after a little decanting. Started out in the glass with some earth and leather, but that developed into dark fruit, violets and caramel. On the palate, blackberry is prominent, with some definite oak spice / sweetness (that is well integrated). Chalky tannins and medium acidity. Solid buy at $15; it'd be interesting to see how this one develops. 88-90.

Darker version of nero d'avola with slightly one dimensional nose leading to warm, long taste with low acidity and decent tannins. Good drinkability and nicely integrated oak. Good wine with red meat but maybe lacks some freshness to reach its peak.

Tasted spoofy to me, all new oak and sweet syrup. No structure to speak of.

A little rough around the edges but still a decent slurp.

Pretty good rounded wine with a slight harshness to it that stopped it scoring higher

Delicious. Thin legs. Gentle soft port-like.
