In a line-up of Merlot's served blind. Fellow tasters put it in Australia. Strong blackcurrant; hints of port. Not much fun. Somewhat over the top. Disappointing.

Very nice mid-priced merlot, bought for a steal at $20. Not too fruity, balanced acidity, ripe without being overly jammy. Good on day 1 and 2, without a lot of change. Seems to be in its prime drinking window now, based on others' reviews. Not as complex as the 2010, but more "easy drinking" for what that's worth.

Average wine at best. Overpowering vanilla. Muted fruit with a bit of funk on the back end. Tasted like a $15 wine and I spent over $40 based on the hype of the winemaker. Don't believe the hype!

Very tight. A bit of heat on the nose blew off to provide some nice fruit. The body was still a bit disjoint. Finish was solid. Perhaps a few years of age will help with integration. Though oak tanniuns were present, the lack of fruit tannins is a bit concerning. It's old world style worked much better with food. All in all all a good but not great wine.

Is this for California? Not your typical fruit bomb point chaser. There's plenty of fruit, but held in check by nice firm tannins that would let this one cellar for years to come. I fount it well-structured and elegant while quite easy to drink and enjoy without thinking too hard about it.

Pop and pour. Very smooth operator. Fruit was purple, a little plum. A little cocoa.
Plenty solid merlot, probably drinking in its prime. Very solid for the $20 spent on it.

Needs an hour of air to show at its best. It's a good, serviceable merlot but nothing to get excited about.

I hate writing this note as it makes me remember what this tasted like. Nose of green olives and candy. Confected fruit on the palate. Gross.
