Closed up and not especially expressive on night 1. On night 2 has a great nose of plum, red fruits, and a little herbal/tea leaf component. Palate is almost Pauillac-like, with a touch of herbal/veg in the middle(petit verdot?), but classy and polished if only moderate in weight/concentration. Quite youthful now. '01 is the only mature Lanessan I've had, and this should be at least as good. Drink now with a long decant or hold as it should continue to improve. I think I under-rated this before.
Decanted 1h. Dark purple red, red rim, 6. Closed nose, some pencil, dark fruit ond oaky notes. The palate is rather traditional Medoc with firm tannins and elegance. Drink 2018 - onwards. Higher score when it unfolds!
Purchased at Leclerc Supermarché in Lesparre/Médoc. Decanted for 2 hours. Very dark ruby color. Nice nose with ample dark fruit (cassis, plum) and some cedar notes, slightly alcoholic. Quite tannic on the palate, nice, but does not match the quality of the nose, medium body. Short finish. Not sure if it will get better with time. Rather not.
A little more expressive than before, but certainly an "aristocratic" styled bdx. Nose of currants and cedar spice, but mostly saline and stone. Tannins are very prominent on the palate, but a pure expression of black currents is there. Moderate finish. Everything it it's right place but shy and hiding behind it's structure. Will need 5-10yrs while the '09 is drinking reasonably well. 3hrs air.
Followed over a couple of days. Tightened up and showed more structure over the first few hours, then opened back up on night 2. Light nose of cassis, creamy vanilla, and saline. Palate is surprisingly light, fine tannins. Repeating cassis and lighter red fruit, touch of bell pepper. Rather angular at this stage and rather short finish with mostly oak notes. Well made, but not as forward as the '09 and I don't think will have as bright a future. StrucK me as a good, if typical Haut-Medoc but not exceptional.
Elegant bouquet with red as well as dark forest fruits. Also some herbal and bell pepper impressions. Same on the palate. Good acidity and sticky tannin. Ok wine. Needs some more time to show what it has in store. Try again not before 2017, although I don't think this is for the very long run. On the other hand; 2022 will not be any problem.
Cask sample and just a short note. Very fruity bouquet and taste; cassis and black cherries. Quite much sweetness but also acidity and tannin. Difficult to score but for my own reference (as always) 87.
