Very enjoyable Fronsac, love the merlot cherry fruit. Very clean fruity nose, almost new world, as are the flavors. I had a glass last night with lots of swirling but no decant and while a bit restrained there was plenty if fruit to enjoy with a simple steak dinner. And now after 24 hours open the tannin is very nicely integrated with the fruit and a 15 second finish evolves with blackberry and chocolate notes. I drank the first six of these a little early it appears but the wine is now entering its prime. Enjoy for next five years at least.

Last of 6 purchased from Garagiste way back when. I have to disagree with the prior posts stating this wine is on the decline. I found this bottle to be full of fruit and life. Tannins we’re still present, but have definitely faded since my last bottle 2 years ago. Secondary flavors and aromas just starting to emerge. If I had more, I’d love to try again in 2-3 years. Great QPR

Nose of stewed plums and tar. Very full bodied and with notable high alcohol and a warm zip on the palate after swallowing. Dark black fruits in a very ripe and quite (over) extracted style for my taste. This should probably be drunk now and will not likely improve with additional bottle age. Drink with a fatty red meat like a ribeye.

Reviewed this wine in 2019 and predicted that it had at least another 5 years of life. Perhaps so, but it is not getting better. Agree with the previous reviewer that it is beginning its decline. Recommend drinking soon unless you prefer old, oxidized Merlot. (Does not appear oxidized yet, but that is the next step.)

I think that the wine is dying, mostly alcohol bouquet, dark color,, ok fruit but tannins and alcohol predominate, just did not enjoy sipping the wine, did not finish the bottle , 14.5% abv, drank with NJ strip steak, last bottle so no more, I had enjoyed this wine in the past which is why I think that wine is on the decline.

Concordant with my last review 2 years ago. An excellent wine. Still has some tannin to allow to fade, and the evergreen element feels a little more prominent at this date. Definitely decant. I’ll revise to still 3-5 years to peak.

2h air. 83% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon. Matured in French oak barrels for 13 months, with 35% new wood.
Right bank from an exceptional vintage. Dark ruby color. Aromas of dark plum, blackberry, cedar, anise and bay leaf. Thick, creamy texture. Black fruit on the palate, structured, with a slightly peppery finish.
Drinking well right now, with room to evolve still.

Slowly opened up, dark color, ok bouquet, a bit heavy but became nicely balanced as it evolved, good fruit, decent tannin, 14.5 % alcohol but not noticeable, drank with steak, great value, have one more bottle, be patient as you drink it, would not hold it much longer.

Nice balance between delicious and serious. Threw a heavy sediment so decanted. Dark, sheeny. Highly aromatic with plum, evergreen, and a bit of forest floor. Solid middle with some creaminess. Rich, persistent black fruit flavors with mild green pepper keeping it from going flabby. Long, caressing tannins, but still 3 years to peak.

This is a very unique wine. Aromas of anise, cinnamon, and some funk, on the palate it's medium bodied, plummy, and notes of cinnamon, anise and funk continue, the tannins are rustic, gritty and grainy, and rather quiet, but drying nonetheless. For those of you who snub Merlot like I used to...the French know how to bring out the nuance and terroir of it and this wine is a great example of that. Was there a mediocre '10 Bordeaux wine produced? I haven't found one.
Preakness wine tasting (Baltimore): Drank at wine tasting, good fruit balanced with tannin, not grapey but a big wine, drank with several other big wines and it held its own. Merlot privets fragrance and complexity, will drink again.

Nose of cinnamon cereal, red and black berry fruit, dried bark, and licorice, more of the same on the palate, medium body, very tasty at it's peak so drink up, rich and slightly mouth filling on the mid palate, long, long finish, nice value.
Opened this wine on Thursday night and was pleasantly surprised by a young but aromatic nose, much better than the previous four bottles, nose of blackberry and blueberry fruit, lead pencil, a touch of tar and licorice, more of the same on the palate, medium body, very tasty and well paired with the meaty lasagna, slightly better the second night, and a long finish. Definitely a winner for $19 out the door.

I originally opened this bottle two nights ago and stored the remaining 50% in the refrigerator. The good news is that the ugly nose was completely gone, nose of pencil lead, black cherry, and forest floor. more of the same on the palate, the flavors were a touch subdued and a touch oxidized, medium body, long finish. All of these suggests this wine is about 3 years from it's peak.

The ugly nose is still present for me but subdued on this bottle, perhaps patience in the cellar will reward you, nose of blackberry, earth and kirsch, more of the same on the palate, even after 90 minutes it was unimpressive, medium/big body, fairly tasty and a touch simple on the mid palate, long finish.

Follow up to the tasting notes on this wine that I posted 2 nights ago. One half the bottle had been refrigerated for 2 days in the hope the ugly nose would resolve itself and result in a more expressive wine. Nose of blackberry, sweet fruit, licorice, and a hint of earth, more of the same on the palate, in short, the nose improved, not quite as rich nor tasty on the palate, no tar quality, long, flavorful finish. Better on the nose and finish but not on the taste so the score is the same.

High toned nose of neutral wood, fresh crunchy red/black bush berries, hints of cranberry and back end black soil. Medium + mouth feel, good structure with plentiful fine tannins and underlying acidity. Wine shows the vintages freshness with solid finish that leaves your palate dry and puckering. Served with roast chicken and buttery gravy this was a great match. Lots of life left here, just starting to soften up and flesh out. Wish I had purchased more than a few bottles. Enjoyed at 65-70 and cellared accordingly since release. Drink window now – 7 years. When ever I come across a wine like this, the same question always comes to mind. If you're seeking a forward, ripe, plush wine filled with licorice, chocolate covered cherries and earth, with round, soft textures, that is drinkable on release for a fair price, look no further. It's not going to make old bones, but that misses the point on wines like this.

A lush, mouth-coating wine with soft tannins, ripe dark berry flavors, and a touch of licorice. This is nicely balanced despite the 14.5% alcohol. This is drinking beautifully, and represents what Merlot can achieve in a good terroir and a great vintage.

Bargain 2010 Bordeaux Region Wines (SF Wine Trading Company): Deep ruby. Higher toned perfume. Full cassis fruit on the entry with chocolate and black olive. Very lush, sort of one toned at present but lively due to back end acidity and tannins. A fair amount of oak as well. A pretty toothsome mouthful.

Upon opening, this was tannic to the point I thought this needed several more years to see if would be enjoyable. However, a half hour later, some air transformed this into a nice, integrated, balanced wine. The next day, even better. Rich, lush mouthfeel combined with dark and cherry fruit and light tannins made this an easy drinker and well suited as a nice house wine if you can get it under $20. A nice value for what it is.

Purple pink color. Slightly rustic quality to the mineral and dark cherry aromas. In the mouth, pleasantly balanced and restrained, with a tensile quality indicating (to me) good structure and aging potential. Brings some good energy through the finish. Liked this quite a bit. 89+

This opaque crimson wine is a blend of 83% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon. It flaunts nice aromas of cassis, pickling spice, anise and sage. On the palate, it is full-bodied, fresh, has seamless alcohol (listed as 14.5%) and generous dusty tannins. The flavors mirror the nose but drop off noticeably as the wine weaves through the middle palate. The resurrected finish is medium in length, albeit a bit astringent. While certainly enjoyable, this wine is a bit too rustic and is lacking "stuffing" in the middle. It would not be unreasonable to gamble that the middle will fill in with some time in the bottle, under which circumstances it would warrant a higher score. Drink 2016-2023.

Value wines category. $18. Opened and consumed over two nights. Beautiful, opaque ruby red color. Unusual nose of pumpkin seeds, fresh rain on slate and iron. On the palette, this is very primary with warm, jammy, red fruits and the oak treatment coming through as coffee grinds. Big, chewy tannin dominates the 20-30 second finish. Given the consistent performance over two nights, I think this wine needs a few years to settle down, integrate and develop secondary characteristics. Likely a 90+ wine in 2 to 3 years.

Slow ox'd this wine over 12 hours then drank over 3 days. This had a nice nose of iron, currant and blackberry. It was amazing how consistent this remained over the 3 days. I have found all the 2010 Bordeaux's need significant air/decant time to really open up. Got more iron, mineral, and blackberry on the palate that ended with some drying tannins. That would be my one complaint. Other than that, very pleasant experience for such an inexpensive bottle.

This is a rather intense wine that could use a few years to mellow out. It's dry, dark, and tannic, with primary flavors of plum or fig and lingering tobacco or coffee on the finish. The tannins are not at all sharp, and I find this enjoyable now, but I suspect it will improve with a few more years to soften.

Once again going against the grain. Did not find this wine to be a pleasant experience. Muted nose, weak, almost watery palate with flavors I find non-descript. May need aging to come together but I seriously don't give it much hope.

Drank this wine with hanger steak and thought it was very good. Decanted for about 2 hours. For less than $20 I will definitely be buying again.

Pre dinner party bottle with appetizers. Currant, coffee, au jus well integrated with the tannins. Good finish. Outrageous QPR at $13.
