Has full complex aromas of leather, earth, roses, chalk, blackcurrants, mint, and cherries. chunky chalky salt infused red and black fruits wine with lovely depth, good freshness and length with Nebbiolo like salty tannin. 13.5%. Drink up. Just PnP so it stays fruity and not tertiary. I like this. It was my birthday present a few years ago. Presents more like a St Emilion from the plateau with its chalky depth than a Rioja. Lacks the zingy acidity.

If you PnP this wine it tastes much, much fresher and younger than if you give it two to three hrs aeration. Has aromas of chalky raspberries, mint, leather, coffee, fig hints. Its medium bodied crunchy red, blue and black fruits palate has lovely depth, nice zingy acidity and finishes longish, tangy and tapering with spicy tannin. 13.5%. Drink up!

Drink up! Not very aromatic anymore with leathery, earthy truffled aromas of autumn leaves, blackberries, black olives, cedar, licorice and spice. This is beginning to get tertiary and is best drunk PNP and then shows its chunky and powerful meaty freshly fruited leathery coffee infused black fruits to the best. Ends mediumish, freshish and with still a little chalky tannic edge. 13.5%. Drink up in the next year or so! This drinks like a Northern Rhone wine like a Crozes-Hermitage. I am disappointed that this has not aged as expected.

Needs 4-5 hrs aeration. Has aromas of earthy, chocolatey chalky, leathery blackberries, black olives, garrigue, raspberries and strawberries. Its medium to full bodied packed black fruits, minerals and earth palate has superb concentration, lovely layers and freshness. Ends mediumish, zingy and a bit unknit. 13.5%. This is a bit rustic but eminently tasty wine.

Ruby purple to the rim. This is still quite tightly wound with cherries and black currants, spices and leather, tobacco hints. It has much colour, much tannin and much future and is now to young to be fully appreciated. Nevertheless my score is a bet of positive evolution over the next 10 years.

After an hour is a bit packed and stacked with a coffeeish black fruited spine medium length and lovely crunchy tannin. 13.5%. Needs 2-3 hrs+ aeration. This is a still bit rustic. On day two fills out to a 91+. On day three is a 92. Has aromas of earth, leather, coffee dusted strawberries, chalk, blackberries and red currants. Its medium to full bodied spherical and coffee dusted black and red fruits concentrated, vibrant and powerful palate has a huge mid palate. Ends mediumish and tannic. Is a bit like a Rhone wine. Can be laid down for 2-3 years. Don't know if this will be a long ager.

This has become finer but maybe less concentrated. This is a mixture of Riojan terroir and New World mouthfeel. Has aromas of leather, blackberries, mint, lifted minerals, chocolate, strawberries and garrigue. Its medium to full bodied palate has power, depth and concentration as well as decent oak and good acidity. Ends longish and still a bit tannic. A food wine. Again still needs a few years to round out those tannins. Needs 3 hours aeration.

Quite dense, showing notes of prune, fig, ginger & clove. Tertiary characters of leather and soil starting to develop as well. Still a bit packed in and crowded and will hopefully unfurl and become more expressive with time. Soft tannins have integrated well; though moderate acidity can leave it feeling a touch flabby. Good, with some room for improvement.

Color cereza picota, ribete granatoso, capa media tirando a alta y gruesa lágrima poco tintada.

Looks to me the wine is in the best period. At least this bottle tasted much better than the other two I had in the past months. Round & silky classic rioja, but w/o the strong wood that sometimes cover everything else. In this Reserva was "just right" for my taste. Medium body with long finish. Poured in a decanter and served at 15°C with some grilled lamb...a perfect match.

This is pretty good. Mid-modern with an expressive, Rhonish nose of garrigue, cinnamon candy, cured meat, and sour cherries. Surprisingly, there's no obvious new oak on the bouquet, it's pure with good fruit, nice brightness and some class. The finish is way too oaky, with too much bitterness and drying wood tannins, but a steak would take care of some of that. Nicely enjoyable. I would drink these now or in the next 5 years, as experience has shown these wines don't really improve with aging and can dry out.

Deep ruby color. Strawberry, plum, vanilla, liquorice and oak on the nose. Red fruits, sweet liquorice and herbs dominates the palate, in this full bodied wine. The tannins are well-integrated and silky in texture. Medium finish. Telmo Rodriguez has made a masterpiece with this Rioja Reserva. Drink 2013 - 2022.

Did not take notes as served at a dinner party. Splash decanted and then drank 1.5 hours later - very dark color - dark fruit profile on the nose & some dill from the American Oak. Black cherry, cherry, dark chocholate on the palate with medium+ body, good acidity & medium+ finish - in between traditional and modern style Riojas. Enjoyable and went great with pork tenderloin. 91+ Personally I think this wine needs a few more years to be at peak.

A young dense Rioja. Nose of figs, plums, raisins, tea leaf and a hint of mint, vanilla. There is some old leather and earth there too, but flavours are still mainly primary. Very clean and precise, and time will help secondary flavours evolve. This has only just started to be approachable and should open up well over next 5 years. M+ acidity and slightly dusty, ample tanins. Good wine.

Dark ruby colour. Low acidity, well integrated oak flavours and lots of dark berries with a hint of pepper and the spicy feel you get from Spanish wines. Well rounded tannins with very few harsh tannins left. Quite distinct lack of aftertaste. Some sediments in the bottle, which would be the only reason to decant. Unlikely to evolve further and may not even be able to last many years more.

Visiting Remelluri Winery - Labastida Dark cherry colour Anisette on the nose with that sweet touch of Remelluri French barrels Dark fruit, plums, cocoa, coffee bean and liquorice are easy to detect also. It is not great for the palate but, after five years, a pale food kind of bottle. The owners are quite gentle and friendly. Very good hosts. Thanks Telmo.
Color picota profundo. Needs some hours to open up even if the wine is very round, soft and low on tannins. Sweet oak, slightly cooked cherry berries, medium body with a relatively long sweet cherry finnish. Lacking structure and a firm core. Not as good as earlier vintages.

99% tempranillo, 5% grenache, 5% graciano. Dark purple, Aroma: blackberries, spice, plum, licorice Palate: tannic, raisons, rhubarb, tar, well-integrated - the oak was not obvious to me. I thought it was rustic, my husband thought it had a lot of finesse, he didn't care for it much but gave it a 94. I liked it a lot and gave it an 88. An interesting wine that promotes some discussion.

The 2007 La Granja Nuestra Señora de Remelluri is made in a modern style for Rioja, with notes of ripe juicy blackberry, plum, smoke, tobacco and leather. Full-bodied, soft and silky, but firm. Very solid right now, but should be even better in 3-5 years as the tannins flesh out. Composed of 90% Tempranillo, 5% Graciano, and 5% Garnacha. (Drink 2012-2021) - April, 2012. (JD)

Some interesting, pungent herbal aromatics on the nose. Oak, milk chocolate, and dark fruit. Medium-bodied and moderately extracted. Not showing much Rioja character or typicity; comes off as an oaky, modern-styled, somewhat anonymous, yet very quaffable wine. This could have been much better had they dialed down the oak treatment.

Riojas at WineX (The Wine Exchange, Orange, CA): Aromas of oak and dark fruit. Fresh juicy fruit. Clean yet astringently tannic finish. Tough to get a read on. I suspect the oak is the cause of the harsh tannin.

Started out a little hit but after 4 hours in came together nicely. Slightly more modern than I like but a good wine nonetheless.

Really nice Rioja ... Needed a little time out of the bottle ... 30-45 minutes feels good. Pleasant typical notes of the Rioja valley ... Like it a lot, look forward to trying the next two bottles

Definitely not a traditional style rioja but not over the type modern either. Wine is nicely integrated with soft tannins and dark fruit. A great weeknight wine.

Andra flaskan 150602
Eken har sjunkit in, tanninerna blivit mjukare och vinet blivit mer harmoniskt. Fruktig och elegant med en bra avslutning. 89 p.
Till grillad fläskkarré med ört- och vitlöksolja.

Dark cherry colour
Anisette on the nose with that sweet touch of Remelluri French barrels
Dark fruit, plums, cocoa, coffee bean and liquorice are easy to detect also.
It is not great for the palate but, after five years, a pale food kind of bottle.
The owners are quite gentle and friendly. Very good hosts. Thanks Telmo.
Color picota profundo.
Gracias Telmo.
