This bottle was drinking great. Last one I had in May not so much. From the reviews seems like lots of variation. Upon opening I could tell this bottle would be fine. Half of bottle decanted, other half slow ox for 7 hours. These old petites need air time. Opaque purple, tight, restrained fruit upon opening. Opened up nicely as the day went on. Pomegranate and cranberry on the nose, violets, hint of rustic petite like dustiness. Bright, medium + acid, suave tannins yet with some grip. I would drink up though could go for a few more years.

Inert. After one hour decant muted, after hour 4 still nothing. Tried a couple different glasses as well. No fruit, no spice, just dry and vacant. Must be an off barrel as this wine should still be holding up. A couple of the last reviews provide similar feedback. I have one more, not sure to open soon or not...
Cannot give this a score as it seems to be an off bottle.

Bought at the winery in 2014. Beautiful ruby color; not a fruit bomb but very good tannins. I wouldn't drink this on its own necessarily but it went very well with braised short ribs.

Frankly, I'd hoped for more from this bottle. Perfectly cellared from new so not sure, other than perhaps bottle variation, why it was a flat uninspiring underwhelming petite. Given it's pedigree it should have been so much more. Let's hope the next bottle will prove differently and can raise the score substantially.

Inky violet color with brambly spice tinged black fruit aromas. On the palate, it's medium bodied and round with a silky texture and dusty tannins with blackberry, plum skin, and spice flavors. Long finish. This one in a sweet spot now 13.7% abv.

Always a pleasure to open a bottle of Ridge. Always consistent, always a pleasure to drink. This bottle lasted well into three days. Should still have a nice future.

Could have been the very noticeable wood element throwing me off, but I think this was slightly corked, particularly bc the fruit wasn't as vibrant or heavy as I would have expected.

Aroma: mushrooms and berry compote. Wet earth. Cured meat. Palate: bright red berry and plum with peppery notes and hints of cured and roasted meats. Hints of almond. Good acidity, light to medium body, and distinct tannin. A bit harsh; give it a couple more years in the cellar.

This is definitely not a pop and pour wine. On first tasting, it was really harsh. An hour of air helped a lot, as did food. It was a very good pairing with chicken adobo, but it was more of an easy-drinking complement to the food than something that shone on its own. Also note that there is a lot of sediment, so it needs to be filtered.

Perfectly fine, but lacking much interest or complexity. Nose and palate are all tannin and mineral. I would have appreciated more than the faint hint of fruit that was present. There's nothing flawed about this wine; it just fits a profile that didn't work for me.

Damn I need to buy more Ridge Petite Sirahs- for $29, this is a killer QPR wine. Stacks up with the Turley and Vincent Arroyo PS. Decant/Hold- came around the 1.5-2 mark.

Tannic at first but opens up into a soft and flavorful wine if you let it decant. It was tough to wait more than an hour. By 2 hours it was fantastic. We didn't make it past that but each glass got better, leaving some for day 2 might not be a bad idea.

Quite aromatic on the PnP with rich dark fruit bursting out. Slightly tannic out of the bottle, but these dissipate quickly and by night 2 are almost completely resolved. On night 1, I found myself slightly confused on whether I liked this or not, there were elements I liked (the aromatics, the luscious fruit), but there were other elements (a bit tart, out of balance acidity) that were putting me off. By night 2, it all became clear, this evolved into a very elegant, lighter styled and smooth glass of wine. I was left wanting more.

With stuffed pork chops and sautéed pea pods. Decanted 30 minutes before drinking. Dark crimson to the rim, opaque in the body, a touch pf purple. Great nose, blueberry/dark cherry, full and rich, touch of pepper. Dry but not austere, nice fruit, great balance. Very fresh for 2007, drinking at top of form.

Tasted @ Ridge Geyserville. Medium purple color. Amazing nose of dark fruits (blueberries), pepper, minerals (crushed rocks), tobacco. On the palate, there is plenty of aromatic complexity. Dark cherries, blueberries, tobacco, spices, minerality and some smoke. It's medium-full bodied with medium+ acidity and medium tannin adding a lot of structure and grip. Great length. This is an amzing Petite Sirah with great aromatic complexity and powerful structure, but without any kind of heavyness. The pretty high acidity adds a lot of freshness to this big wine. Love the minerality too. Really beautiful and a breath-taking value!

Very good, but not as big as past vintages. Shows good acidity and discernible tannins. Enough structure to go a few more years, but I'll be drinking these sooner rather than later. Dark fruit on the palate falls a bit short on the finish.

Delicious red/dark red fruit. Some spice. Perfect acidity. We blew through a bottle at lunch.
Not sure why this was just released, as the tasting note on the back suggests it was drinking well young, in 2008. But it still tastes young to me. Very bright fruit.

Lacking in body. A pretty wine, and light for a petite sirah. A bit chalky on the mouth feel. Good acid and cut, but needs a little more fruit oomph. Perhaps past its prime. C+/B-
