Big and sweet. Doesn't show its age. Ripe strawberry. Huge backbone and had a nice pine needle nose. As night continued, had somewhat of of a cherry cola thing going which did not work well for me.

Decanted in am for 2 hours, then aerated w Vinturi aerator. Needed it. Very good Cotes de Nuits styled wine. Nose not that expressive and body not that light. I liked it. Ellen the hypertaster loved it, and thought it worth the price.I preferred it to David's 1997 William Selyem Hirsch V.

Dinner Party (Jade 1409): Decanted for 5 hours in am, needed it. Served after the Prieur Chambertin Clos de Beze, and the Augustina whille tighter and not having the perfume bouquet was clearly richer and deeper. More like a great Pommard or Nuit St George. I rated it slightly superior. Served with Wild Mushroom Risotto.

This one will never be a candidate for QPR, but boy is it good. Have had a Roar, an Arcadian, and a Byron in the last month and they were all darn tasty. But the body of this wine is just otherworldly and puts it in a league of its own. When I think of a jammy Pinot, this wine is jam--jam, not in a Syrah kind of way, but with the full flavor of a Pinot. I'd say that for those who yearn for delicacy, this is not your wine, and yet there is Pinot like delicacy and subtlety in the structure that defines the body. Flavors of blackberry and a finish of fruit infused caramel . Almost unbelievable but the palate doesn't deceive you--this is a great Pinot with plenty to spare.

Open and let sit for about 15 minutes. This was a rich and delicious wine. For a 12 year old wine, it was not tired. I wish that I more.
