Served with Scallops Provençal (Ina Garten’s recipe). Deep gold in color. At 14 years, the wine has lost all characteristics of fruit and oak from its youth. Now it is a lucious, elegant smooth elixir. So smooth, elegant and refined.

Kistler at its best; 11 years old and singing; medium yellow; expressive powerful mineral nose with some lemon; rich full-bodied rounded body with fine balance of acidity, butter and exotic fruit, rich and long aftertaste; has everything going for it

Tasty golden delicious apple notes straight out of the orchard off set by some herbaceous lavender and rosemary. Long finish. Mouth coating. Really good for an old chard.

Nice crispy flavors. Crisp Apple, a little carbonation, yeast on nose, slight vanilla, acid is still good. I would say this particular bottle could still do more years. Great wine.

The last bottle I tried was over the hill and I couldn't even drink it. This bottle however, from the same shipment, was fabulous. Very balanced, with secondary characteristics dominating. Citrus on the nose, nuanced vanilla, banana on the palate. Light golden color. Just the way aged chardonnay should be.

This is quite possibly the best Chardonnay I've tried to date, but I haven't tried much. Shout out to All Is Whale for having tried this with me.
Two things that stood out: 1) Extra smooth with 0 hard edges; and 2) Nice buttery finish with fine oak, similar to a high-end Napa Cab. All in all this was worth the money.

Simply beautiful, mineral driven graceful Chard. Medium weight, nice balance and growing subtlety. Butterscotch, tropical fruits, and minerals. Drink now - as good as it’s going to get.

Got tons of tropical fruit, lemon zest and wet stone on this - touches of oaky vanilla on the finish. No mistaking this for what it is, big California chard, but an excellent example of the style.
Golden color, big nose of tropical fruit and burnt caramel. The wine is very big, mouth coating with a lot of Apple and pear along with good acidity and a long finish. Drinking beautifully right now.

Complex for a chard, good acidity and mineral content...but no one talks about the dominant fruit...doesn't seem to be one...but unmistakeably a chard.

Another nice bottle. Deep, cloudy lemon color. Fine depth, excellent balance, judicious oak. The structure is here for medium-term aging, and a couple years may soften the acidity nicely.

Nothing like the previous bottle. Oak, alcohol, little else. Some fairly fresh seepage under the capsule, perhaps abused at some point in the distribution channel. Not scored.

This was absolutely clean and delicious from beginning to end. Crystal yellow tinged with green and pineapple. Generous and inviting nose. Beautiful, butterscotchy oak that doesn't smother the chardonnay fruit. Rich and mouthfilling, yet lively and impeccably balanced. This should hold for a couple years, but I can't imagine it improving from this high level. This was the best Kistler chardonnay I've tasted in a very long time, probably one of the better young chardonnays I've ever tasted. Very impressive, praised by all at the table, including the chardonnay haters.

EG donated this to an Itaian dinner my friends hosted.
Ripe stone fruit, some organic earth notes. Butter, cream, cocont, vanilla. Really nice right now; but don't age it any more.

This was flat and flabby. Not up to the Kistler I know. Really not very good. It was kept at cellar temp since I got it. Drink now.

I love the Kistler wines from this vineyard, but this one is beyond its drinking window unless you have a strong affinity for old chards.
