Full ruby, no orange at the rim. Elegant, sweet notions of strawberry, maraschino cherry, and oak spice. Medium-bodied, with above average acidity. Refreshing, flexible at the table. Thankfully, not cooked, given some of the notes here.

Lacks the delicacy and lift of the better Lopez de Heredia's I've had. Stewed cherries are the dominant flavor. First bottle of three was off, so these might be heat damaged.

Eastman. Mature color. GREAT perfumed nose redolent of flowers. Palate less sublime but seamless, fully secondary. American Oak not at all evident as discrte component.

Just beginning to turn a little orange at the rim, the color you'd worry about in most wines but not Rioja. Lots of dry fruit, plenty of acid, American oak contributing but not in the forefront. relatively affordable. Drinking beautifully now. Perhaps a little more complexity to come?

Portugalia. Certainly, tasting a bit old, and far outshone by the 1994 Tondonia Gran Reserva

Definitely a mature wine now, with nose of dried flowers, quite delicate but flavorful palate and just a bit drying at the finish. Time to drink.
