Pop and pour. Dark garnet on the color. Dark fruit on the nose. SMooth, a little tannic with spice and a little chocoloate to taste. Good finish. At $30 a pop, not a great QPR, otherwise, a good daily drinker.
Rich color. Full aromas of mushroom, blood sausage, barnyard, cracked pepper, blueberry & cassis. Tight flavors centering around blueberry and mineral with cracked pepper and spice. Fine earthy tannin and a lingering finish. Needs time.
Decanted 1 hr. ahead. Deep ruby color. Nice nose of allspice, black cherries, tea leaves. Rich and firm on the palate, as flavors veer more toward spice than to fruit. Blackberries and pencil shavings enter. Well-structured with good acid backbone. Finishes very nicely with waves of redwood and orange peel ahead of velvety but grippy tannins. It will probably benefit from several years in the cellar. This is a classy bottle that has exceptional QPR at $18.
