45 minute decant, the nose is minerals and cherry with a little spiciness added in. The palate is on the juicy side with delicate acidity and minimal tannins and flavors of cherry, cinnamon and light minerality. A thinner mouthfeel and a medium finish make this a reasonable expression of this nerello mascalase/cappucio blend.

Finishes coarse but in a good way with nice intensity and complexity. Quite balanced and elegant with a lingering finish of smoky rocks. Always tasty stuff from this address.

Very lively, floral nose of spiced berries, violets, and savory smoked game. Medium bodied palate with wonderful acidity, tart mixed berries, black pepper, and hints of subtle earth. Just enough tannins lend structure throughout. Very enjoyable, even more so with food. Drink or hold.

Very nice balanced, delicate wine reminiscent of nebiolo and/or lighter stile aglianico (having some road tar flavors in addition to red and dark fruit) if that make sense. Short finish.

Beautiful ruby colour. Red berries and minerals on the nose. The palate is dominated by red fruit (cranberries) but there is also a dark component along with minerals and tea. The mouth feeling is really refreshing with fresh acids. It could probably be stored for a few years, but why wait, it is so nice right now. Great QPR.
Decanted for two hours, paired with roasted pork loin. Scant fruit, very light - almost airy, with restrained acidity and mild minerals, perhaps some straw or hay. Not a lot to it. Drank better, a little more filled out, on day two. Not sure if this one just doesn't have much about it, or is just nearing it's drinking window. Would try again in 2014-2015 to see where it is then. For $20 though, better deals out there.

Once again, fresh and lovely with beautiful red aromatics and obvious minerality. The acidity works like a charm with a creamy sauce. Softens significantly with an hour or two of air. Twelve bottles down easy as peas.

Bit different than previous bottles. Still light-to-mid weight with significant cranberry dominant red fruit and good balance. Less savory/saline and more gamay-like mouthfeel. This bottle was definitely more like a cru bo. Very nice and more than fair QPR for $16.

The nose is restrained, but I smell some blueberry and black cherry. Tart character of the fruit on the palate allows the fruit to hang with the big acidity and tannins. I haven't had this in over two months and its still every bit as good as I remember. This one needs a little time in the decanter or glass after opening. I had a sip within 5 minutes of popping the cork and I thought the bottle was flawed because the fruit wasn't there. It was fine a hour or so later and amazing on day 2.

Clear ruby red. Medium bodied, ample acidity, and a good tannic grip that made a great pairing with grilled Italian sausage and broccoli sauteed in EVOO with garlic and Aleppo pepper. Tart red fruits, black pepper, and some herbs. I have a few more that I will hold for another year or two before revisiting. Not as complex as the single vineyard TN's but it was only $12.75. Not a lot of wines this enjoyable at this price. I know this is a MDG wine, but it did not scream spoofilated...

It's always a good sign when a wine fires on so many cylinders that I find myself polishing off the half bottle I poured out for initial consumption and then going back to the cellar to retrieve the 2nd half that I set aside for tomorrow. I suspect that I'll be finishing the majority of this one on opening night. I'm new to terre nere; I started off with this wine's higher end brother last night (the "santo spirito" also from tenuta delle in 2009.) I was told at the tasting I attended that tenuta delle's entry level terre nere did not disappoint. I agree! Although not quite as complex as the santo spirito, this has to be one of the best wines I've ever had at this pricepoint. This is a relatively "big" old world wine, yet everything remains in balance as an accompaniment to the ribeye I'm enjoying tonight. Crisp fruit up front, a biting acidity, that is devoid of the astringency that accompanies Sangiovese based wines. This wine falls a little short mid-palette, and once the steak is gone it seems a little on the tannic side. However, I just popped and poured this one and I suspect that if I had decanted for any length of time this wine would feel more balanced even without the accompaniment of food

Doftar som en välgjord och i positiv bemärkelse modern Bourgogne. Dominerad av röda bär som hallon, jordgubbar och körsbär. Smaken är ganska lätt men frukten är tillräckligt mogen i munnen för att balansera upp den fina syran.

Pinot-like nose of red fruit, red licorice & underlying mineral w/floral aromas. Soft & light-medium bodied, w/notes of cherry, strawberry & raspberry w/hints of vanilla, and later emerging with more herbal & earthier traits. Very nice, and paired well w/food.

Hanging out at Domaine (Domaine Wine Storage): I find that it takes these wines a bit of time to open up. The 2006 seems to be drinking well these days, so it was no surprise to me that this was a bit unyielding and tough. I could sense the red fruit and brambly earth underneath the tannins, but it'll take some time for them to emerge. I'd hold for 3-5 years.

Pure and nicely perfumed red berry nose with cranberries, maraschino and lingonberries over darker mineral notes with hints of liquorice, black tea, leather and herbs. On the palate reminiscent of a northern-piemonte nebbiolo: well balanced acidity, very fresh, sweet & tart red berries, herbal grip and salty minerals. Sympathetic style, very Etna indeed, good with or without food, at an irresistible price point. Buy more!

The aromatics are decidedly savory yet bolstered by a gorgeously fresh red fruit core, with notes of paprika, spicy horseradish, dried green herbs, and a bit of game. The palate follows in fashion, opening with focused ripe red fruit, violets, and roasted red pepper, gaining momentum as well as mineral complexities on the mid-palate. Dusty tannins and lifting acidity frame a medium length finish of cedar, black tea, and dreid red berries. This is simply a pleasure to drink, being light-medium body with nice intensity of flavor. Would pair well with a variety of foods. R&M 88

This is a refreshing bottle of wine, which I mean both figuratively and literally. Plenty of acid to enliven the fresh and pure flavors, it's also a nice change of pace being from Sicily. Nose is reminiscent of strawberry Gatorade grounded by soil notes and the palate packs a lot of weight and material on what's a sprightly frame. A pretty yet substantial wine at the same time, really great find.

Opened and let it breath in bottle for 30 minutes. Very light in color similar to a Pinot Noir or Nebbiolo based wine. Pretty aromas of strawberries and cranberries. On the palate it tastes similar to how it smells with cranberries, red cherry flavors and lively acidity. It's really pleasant on its own or with some light food. Very nice finish with polished tannins and minerality. Aftertaste of at least 40 seconds.

Ruby fruit, candle wax, toasted herbs and dank minerality. Medium bodied, minus. Juicy and dried red fruit flavors, currant, cherry and cranberry, (some hints of green succulent fruit) with zesty acidity. Juicy and bittersweet finish with hints of tar'n char (bonfire). A roasted and baked dry red with juiciness at the core. (*)

Cranberry color. Nose of cherry, raspberry, saffron, and soil. Nicole commented that it "smells like sex," and oddly enough I get that a bit too. Light in body--I think the "between pinot noir and chianti" is fair. Flavors of cherry and cranberry, and good acidity. Good with food, particularly pasta with red sauce or pizza.

Really great QPR. Stewed fruits, in the best way. Surprisingly grippy tannins for such a light-bodied (pinot-weight) wine. It's like a marriage of Barolo and Burgundy: earthy, tannic, cherry compote-ness on the one hand and the razor's edge on the other. As the wine aerates it moves toward the stewed fruit end, and loses some litheness. Great out of the bottle, best an hour in, still lovely 120 minutes later.

Doftar som en välgjord och i positiv bemärkelse modern Bourgogne. Dominerad av röda bär som hallon, jordgubbar och körsbär. Smaken är ganska lätt men frukten är tillräckligt mogen i munnen för att balansera upp den fina syran.

Terre Nere ( Sicily) Tasting (Eldad Levy's home, Herzlia): Light and bright ruby color – like Barolo. Perfumed, light on the palate, with very good and nice acidity. Good !

Buy more!

An excellent bottle. Lighter red in color. Perfumed nose. Red fruits dominate the palate with a lovely core of cherry and roses. Finishes dry and crisp. Great value as well.

Beautiful pure red berry and cherry fruit with some herbs and earth. Light-medium bodied with a silky soft mouthfeel and wonderful juicy acidity. Had this a few times and it has been quite consistent and enjoyable. Would love to see how some of the single vineyards taste.

This quite delivers a lot of interest. Strawberry and cherry fruit. Pinot color and body. Silky and rocky and minerally. Fine acidity and ripe tannin. Super sub $20 wine. 90-91

Medium bodied red from Etna with strawberries, cherries, cranberries and rock. As the wine gets warmer, clear elements of ripe and darker berrries come up.
Very nice and dry finish with medium+ lenght. Lovely wine and definately at its best with food.

Light rubv red. Red fruit, sour cherry, mild strawberry, bubble gum, light spice. Very elegant, balancing acidity, with gripping tannins yet in balance with everything else. Thoroughly impressed. Cant wait to try the cru's.

Clear translucent garnet. Pinot-like sour cherry flavor profile, with bright acidity, excellent weight, balance, and lots of minerality. Tannins are firm but not overwhelming. Lacking in complexity now, but shows aging potential. It will be interesting to follow this to see where it goes.

Very distinct Sicilian wine in the sense the Narello aromas pronounced. Plush soft and smooth – this is a very good everyday drinker. Bright raspberry bubblegum component. This wine always reminds me of bubbalicious gum. Good value and a fun wine.

Very much like a Pinot, with a touch more acidic bite - in a good way. Lots of cherry and cranberry. Refreshing, but not as lingering as a Pinot.
