This was great. Classic CA Cabernet, perfectly medium weight, lots of complexity, fruit, density, and has started to evolve very nicely to show some secondary notes. This probably has at least another decade ahead of it although I don't have any other experience with this producer so I don't know if this will improve much or plateau.

This 2008 Jordan (V24045) was decanted through a gravity aerator and served immediately, and was open right away. It is gracious, balanced and smooth, with a very nice 13.5% ABV, but it is a rather simple and straightforward wine, lacking complexity. Like many "famous" California wines, this is too expensive for the quality in the bottle.

Nice Jordan, not a powerhouse vintage but what really shines here is the acidity and freshness. Great with food because of the mouth-watering acidity that just begs for another sip. Almost reminds me of a Barbaresco or a Sangiovese based Super Tuscan. Classy old school style that just works so well with food.

Nose is smoky with lush dark fruit and tobacco. Immediately following a good swirl, pure perfume. Blackberry on the tongue, flavors of cinnamon and asparagus on the back end. Mouthfeel is thinner than water and gets a bit chalky as you get further in. This is refined wine that has aged extremely well. I suggest drinking it now. It could easily last another year or two, but it would be terrible to let it go.

Nose is deep and lush, big purple fruits with a hint of spice on the end. Color gets more transparent around the rim of the glass, the color otherwise is a dark plum in the middle getting less so toward the edges. Wine is very snappy, bold and and sunny. All kinds of even keeled notes of blackberry and plum. Long finish, decadent and juicy. A steak wine all the way but would go well with any grilled meats. If you have this, drink it now.

Consistent with the notes from three months ago. Jordan's website indicates this will drink thru 2020 (1.5L will go further), and it may very well have some time left before it goes into decline. We enjoyed this wine very much at this stage. Unless you're holding as part of a collection (i.e. keeping a vertical intact), would recommend you enjoy this wine sooner than later.

Consistent with previous notes only it has improved and become more accessible since last March. Blackberries and black cherries on the nose and palate. Good acidity and savory notes of herbs and tobacco lead into a refined finish. Well balanced with some depth. Drink before 2022. Technical score: 93. Enjoyment score: 93.

Very nice Jordan from a tough vintage. Guessing the drinking window is starting to close on this one, but may go a bit farther. Very soft and smooth with hints of vanilla. Tannins and fruit seamlessly integrated. If you have this, now may be the time to enjoy.

I shared this Cabernet with our wine and dinner club. We had two outstanding wines preceding the Jordan, so maybe we weren't in the mood to appreciate a very nice Cabernet that wasn't exceptional. Nice nose with smoke and dark plum. Beautiful inky, long legs in the glass. Smoke, currants, plums and chocolate with smooth tannins mid-palate. Finish medium. Very nice, but definitely not a WOW.

Opened and decanted with pork loin. Dark violet color. Nose brings blackcurrant, sweet cassis, savory herbs, and hints of campfire. The palate is medium, round, firm, and velvety, bringing blackberries, chocolate cherries, blackcurrant, dried leather, sweet tobacco, and mushrooms into the finish, which is refined. Seems to be in a nice window. Drink now over the next 5-10 years. Technical score: 92. Enjoyment score: 93.

At Jordan Wine Dinner, Taj Campton Place, San Francisco. Nice, dark garnet color. Floral nose of candied red fruit and spices. Medium-bodied, bringing some dark and red fruit into a nice, supple finish. Old-world style. On the finish, tasted a streak of burned wood and smoke from the CA fires that summer. Bottle opened to breathe for half an hour. Lots of vanilla on the nose and palate. At little reticent at first, eventually coaxed a nose dominated by strawberry fruit, with a little blueberry tossed in. Medium bodied, with a nice balance of sweet and acidity, but not at all a fruit bomb. Smooth finish with good length. Tannins perfect for a steak right now, but one could easily wait 2 to 3 years on this wine. Seamless, but not too complex.

PnP. Dark in the glass with a ruby rim. On the nose this has dried herb, briar, leather, crème de cassis, and blackberries. On the palate this offers very dry tannins, black cherry and herbs, without much distinction. There is a persistency to the finish that is lifted up on the back palate by the dry tannins. The wine lacks complexity, and the dry tannins and limited range of flavors on the palate hold back my score. I recall the 2007 Jordan offering more depth and flavor. Considering the cost, this is a poor QPR. Day 1 Score 87
Day 2 - A bit more lift on the palate for the fruit, adding black currant and black raspberry. Tannins remain annoyingly dry. Day 2 score 89.

Decanted through a vinturi and let sit for two hours, the nose is dark fruit, the body is medium and plums, blackberries and leather dominate the palate, a nice finish- went well with a nice Roasted Chicken. It is a very enjoyable wine but I think the price is a little steep there are many comparable cabernets avilable for much less.

Nice nose, not super strong, restrained. Nice soft profile, oak restrained, big fruit flavors, good acidity. Layers of dark cherry, cassis, tannins sneak up on you instead of smacking you. Balanced example of cab, though the style mutes the complexity a little.
Classic in style, light in alcohol, and well structured, the '08 is youthful in appearance with a mid-to-full body, soft tannins, and a smooth mouthfeel. Notes of black cherries, black and blue fruit, plums, cocoa, and incense frame touches of eucalyptus, bell peppers, and fresh herbs, before closing with iron minerality. Shows elegance and balance, gaining depth and breadth in the glass.

medium plus viscosity leaves purple streaks falling down the glass to the dark ruby colored wine within. Aromas of over-ripe fruit upfront, cherry and blackberry. Cassis, herbs and cedar support and are straight forward but not overly complex. On the palate lively acidity and a round full mouth feel are enjoyable. Tannins are soft. Napa & Sonoma favorites in 3 short days...; 9/21/2012-9/24/2012 (Napa & Sonoma Valley wineries): Tasting room pour. The estate in Sonoma is one to see, it is an incredible production facility of 90k cases, 60k of which are this Cab, and 30k of their Chardonnay. This wine is deep ruby in color, barely fading to the rim. On the nose, slightly underripe cassis fruit comes across as rather primary on this newly released wine. On the palate, the tannins are med(+) and a bit hard and astringent, while the flavors are of slightly underripe cherry and black currant fruit. There is a vegetal green quality on the palate, not too off-putting, but may not improve with bottle age. Drink 2015-2024 in my opinion.

Medium-bodied, bringing some dark and red fruit into a nice, supple finish. Old-world style. On the finish, tasted a streak of burned wood and smoke from the CA fires that summer. Bottle opened to breathe for half an hour. Lots of vanilla on the nose and palate. At little reticent at first, eventually coaxed a nose dominated by strawberry fruit, with a little blueberry tossed in. Medium bodied, with a nice balance of sweet and acidity, but not at all a fruit bomb. Smooth finish with good length. Tannins perfect for a steak right now, but one could easily wait 2 to 3 years on this wine. Seamless, but not too complex.

PnP. Dark in the glass with a ruby rim. On the nose this has dried herb, briar, leather, crème de cassis, and blackberries. On the palate this offers very dry tannins, black cherry and herbs, without much distinction. There is a persistency to the finish that is lifted up on the back palate by the dry tannins. The wine lacks complexity, and the dry tannins and limited range of flavors on the palate hold back my score. I recall the 2007 Jordan offering more depth and flavor. Considering the cost, this is a poor QPR. Day 1 Score 87
Day 2 - A bit more lift on the palate for the fruit, adding black currant and black raspberry. Tannins remain annoyingly dry. Day 2 score 89.

The wine looks Purple colored. The legs are Slow. It smells like Blackberry, Oak, and Espresso. It tastes like Blackberry, Black currant (cassis), Oak, and Meaty. The body is Full. The wine has Leathery texture. The wine finishes Long.

Decanted through a vinturi and let sit for two hours, the nose is dark fruit, the body is medium and plums, blackberries and leather dominate the palate, a nice finish- went well with a nice Roasted Chicken. It is a very enjoyable wine but I think the price is a little steep there are many comparable cabernets avilable for much less.

Always consistent, It's hard to go wrong with a Jordan Cab. Found a great distributor out of Portland Oregon, Sec Wines, that I would highly recommend for the purchase of Jordan wines.

Aromas of over-ripe fruit upfront, cherry and blackberry. Cassis, herbs and cedar support and are straight forward but not overly complex.
On the palate lively acidity and a round full mouth feel are enjoyable. Tannins are soft. Flavors of currant, cedar, herbs and black pepper are met with a vegetal/green bell pepper note. the finish is medium-minus

Napa & Sonoma favorites in 3 short days...; 9/21/2012-9/24/2012 (Napa & Sonoma Valley wineries): Tasting room pour. The estate in Sonoma is one to see, it is an incredible production facility of 90k cases, 60k of which are this Cab, and 30k of their Chardonnay.
This wine is deep ruby in color, barely fading to the rim. On the nose, slightly underripe cassis fruit comes across as rather primary on this newly released wine. On the palate, the tannins are med(+) and a bit hard and astringent, while the flavors are of slightly underripe cherry and black currant fruit. There is a vegetal green quality on the palate, not too off-putting, but may not improve with bottle age. Drink 2015-2024 in my opinion.
